Sunday at Grenada Athletic Stadium (Grenada), as part of the final phase of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup (U-17) to be held from 30 September to 21 October 2016 in Jordan, the Grenadières faced Canada for the last ticket of the zone for Jordan 2016, at the small final, but despite their efforts, they inclined face the team at the Maple Leaf [4-2].

It was far from a foregone conclusion for Canada after their defeat [2-1] against the Grenadières earlier in the tournament.

In the first half the two teams were standing a close, after 45 minutes without a goal and without real opportunity. It was not until the 55th minute for the Canadian Lauren Raimondo opened the scoring in open play [1-0]. In the 61st minute, Vital Kats registered one second goal for Canada [2-0], in the 73rd Shana Flynn scored the 3rd goal for the Canadian team followed 2 minutes later by a shot from Lauren Raimondo bringing the score of the team at the Maple Leaf to [4-0].

Just minutes from the end, in the 80th minute, Nerilia Mondesir (who scored five goals in the qualifiers) finally marked a goal for Haiti [4-1] and to one minute before extra time in the 89th minute she registered a second goal for Grenadières [4-2] and saves the honor of the Haitian selection.

Canada won the 3rd place, 4-2 against Haiti, a victory synonymous of articipation in the FIFA U-17 World Cup, Jordan 2016, in company of Mexico and the United States.

Match Statistics :
Canadian made 24 shots attempts towards the Haiti net against only 6 for Haiti. The young Grenadières made 13 fouls, 9 for Canadian. In terms of
offside Haiti has not made any, compared to 7 for Canada. Haiti has made 15 interceptions against 20 for the team at the Maple Leaf. The Grenadières have made 72 passes in total, against 296 for the Canadian team. The Grenadières have possess the ball only 32% of the time.

The young Grenadières have not managed the exploit, to obtain their ticket for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World, Jordan 2016, but we note that our players had merit during this Championship U17 CONCACAF having accounted for the final elimination phase of the World Cup Jordan 2016 of this category.
