Learning For All Ministerial Roundtable

Thursday April 18 · 4:45pm EDT // 8:45pm GMT
On 18 April 2013, the Learning for All Ministerial brought together ministers of finance and education – from eight countries that are home to about one-half of the world’s out-of-school children – with leaders from development partner organizations to discuss specific challenges and concrete steps to accelerate progress toward ensuring that all children can go to school and learn. The event focused on Bangladesh, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Haiti, India, Nigeria, Yemen, and South Sudan.

Occurring around the 2013 World Bank – IMF Spring Meetings in Washington DC, the Learning for All Ministerial meetings was co-hosted by the President of the World Bank Group with the United Nations Secretary-General and the UN Special Envoy for Global Education. Other participants also included the heads of the four Education For All co-founding agencies (UNESCO, UNICEF, UNDP and the World Bank), the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), bilateral and multilateral donor agencies, global civil society and the private sector. The Learning for All Ministerial also included country meetings on each of the eight countries.
