Detective Yves Dambreville retired in 2012
Yves Dambreville, a U.S citizen of Haitian origin and a 33-year-veteran of the department who retired in 2012, was killed Wednesday.
Former Boston Mayor Ray Flynn remembered the 66-year-old Dambreville as “not only my dear friend, but my liaison to those minority communities.” Dambreville served in a similar capacity under Mayor Tom Menino.
Police Commissioner William Evans says Dambreville was a “hard-working, dedicated and well respected member of the department.”
Dambreville’s wife tells the Boston Herald her husband was in Haiti working on two projects, training police and building a retirement home.
