Jovenel Moise received more than 51% of the vote, meaning he is the new President of Haiti!

End of story!

A free-and-fair election sees candidates enter the race, and people vote for them
Get 51% or more and you win immediately!  Any less and top 2 have a second round.

We should remember Rene Preval’s blackmail of the UN/International Community in 2010 when he forced them to give him a first round victory.

Now that we have a first round victory – the same people – UN/International Community, are suggesting we should have a run-off.

The fact that NEG BANNAN – Jovenel Moise – is Martelly’s candidate has nothing to do with it. Ruling parties sponsor a candidate in all elections.

Only Martelly was stupid enough to disqualify the one who should have run for President, under the PHTK banner. But Laurent Lamothe is now a shadow in the past and we must deal with today.

Today says Jovenel Moise won with more than 51%.

Big mistake to bow to pressure and agree to a run-off. This will be very divisive and set an unfortunate precedent.

Don’t give the opposition two bites at the apple.

JOVENEL IS THE PRESIDENT ELECT.

  1. And now we have Moise Jean-Charles, Jean-henry Ceant, Jude Celestin and Steeven Benoit fomenting insurrection against a democratically elected governement.

    I don’t know what the reaction will be, but the US Govrnment cancelled a couple hundred visas for those who stood against Aristide.

    The American government should consider carefully what course of action the decide to follow.

    If Jovenel won the election, he must be delared, and accepted as President.

    All those who promise violence “greater than that creatd by Dessaline” must pay the price of censure.

    Cancel their visas, as a first step.

    This would be our reaction, when I was with the embassy.
