Laurent Lamothe received a surprise request, during his visit to France.

Pressure is on the Martelly government.

The clock is ticking.

Alain Juppé,  France’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of France has pressed Haiti’s Foreign Affairs Minister Laurent Lamothe for the extradition to France of both Rene Preval and Jean-Bertrand Aristide for questioning in the Amral Duclona affair.

Special focus in on Duclona’s assassination of the French Consul, a crime Duclona claims was ordered by Rene Preval and others.

Gang-leader Amaral Duclona escaped to the Dominican Republic as MINUSTAH teams moved to arrest him. Jude Celestin arranged for a Haitian passport in a false name. Celestin stayed in the home of Preval’s sister the night before his escape. He lived in the Dominican Republic, supported by cash sent via Western Union, from the palace.

He was arrested by a special team of Dominicans and MINUSTAH. Interrogated in the Dominican Republic, Duclona implicated Jean-Bertrand Aristide, Rene Preval, Jude Celestin – and dozens of others – in a criminal, murder campaign against the opposition.

Whenever Duclona was arrested, he simply called the palace and Preval would have him released. When in danger he simply ran to Preval’s home, or that of Preval’s sister, for safety.

The French have waited for justice.

They now want Aristide, Preval and others. If this is not possible – they have already filed documents requesting the right to interrogate Aristide and Preval – under oath – in Haiti.

The American government is reviewing its files covering the involvement of Aristide, Preval, Celestin and others in the cocaine traffic.

I suppose the old saying…YOU CAN RUN BUT YOU CANNOT HIDE… might fit the Aristide/Preval/Celestin situation of today.  They have been effectively frozen in Haiti so they can be picked off at leisure.

  1. We better wait to see if anything will be really done in this particular case.
    You could not be president of Haiti if you are clean.Everyone has a file in the closet to be used at the indicated time to make you efficient according to the will of the master.

    So, who knows?
    That way, the congressmen and congresswomen, the senators are triying to confuse the process of their leaders through the supposed crisis of faulse official identities of the members of the current government.The OPs are ready tomplay the game to stop or to create a trouble time in Haiti in order to have the streets blocked to evoid that Aristide and Preval to be arrested and go to trial.

    pn the same way, where the journalists? the press of Haiti?
    The justice system of Haiti should be running against Senator Moise Jean Charles who is a a suspect for killing, kidnapping,muder well known which had a warrant after him in the district of Cap-Haitian since then.

    How could it be possible that a criminal like him elected as senator of the republic? Jean Charles was the ones who managed the case of Amaral Duclona in behalf of preval and Aristide according to the investigators in charge of the case.Why Bulos doesn’t say anything about the involment of Moise Jean Charles before the justice system for being in charge of the assasins who went unto the dominican republic triying ti assassinate him when he was over there in hiding”

    How could I believe the reason why if this silence? where are the Aristide and Preval victims? The press does not say anything.

    Why? The future will talk anyway, be patient people.

  3. It is hard to trust politicians, mainly Haitian and French politicians.
    This is a matter of justice. What proof can you have concerning Duclona’s allegations? Such declarations cannot go to an impartial court like we know them in the USA.
    Really, I don’t see how the french authorities can tie either Preval or Aristide to the words of a gangster, Unless they arbitrarily judge the case, something that is still unthinkable in the USA.

  4. that might sound great for Martelly, but he needs to think not only twice but several time. While his coziness with the Duvalier regime may give him a sense of his inevitable dictatorial aspiration, he should be reminded that what happens to his predecessors will happen to him since he is following the same course that they followed
