The entire Kenyan Fiasco is just another way the International Community – namely the Americans – have to avoid common-sense solutions to Haitian specific problems. The American concept of just throwing Dollar Bills at the wall, never works. If anything, it simply magnifies it.
Rather than send 30 US Marines, without weapons – which would solve the SEKIRITE problem – Haitian love the Marines – the American government wandered around, the world’s darkest corners, looking for someone to participate.
All meaningful possibilities declined.
Kenya – a really bad choice – finally blackmailed the American government into something near $500,000,000 in total, to send 1000 English/Swahili speaking, human rights violating police officers to Haiti.
Some have suggested that a few Mongolians have been added to the team.
My goodness!!! MONGOLIANS!!! That stretches the imagination
A lot of money will be wasted on costly interpreters.
This fortune should be directed into the Haitian economy to strengthen infrastructure and improve the PNH situation. Higher wages, medical facilities – small things that make a police officer’s life better. And, of course, pay the PNH officers their wages when due. They often wait for months while cash is distributed freely to the gangs.
It doesn’t help that the Biden Plan and Canada and draining qualified people. The PNH has lost about 3,000 officers to the Biden Plan.
Everyone seems to be dedicated to failure, as the Haitians are left to deal with reality.
The Kenyans are not seen as a solution to Haitian problems.
They are seen as a security force to simply maintain Prime Minister Ariel Henry in power. If it is their plan to arrest Gut Philippe, and his supporters, in order to do this, the Nation will erupt in pent up violence.
Haiti’s massive majority has maintained silence as their SEKIRITE is diminished to a non-existent point.
