Haiti - Justice : Installation of the new Director of the DCPJ

Friday, Godson Aurélus, the Director General of the National Police of Haiti, has proceeded to the installation of Mr. Rameau Normil as the new Director of the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ), with this appointment Mr. Normil change of rank from Divisional Commissioner to Inspector General.

The inauguration ceremony was attended among others by : Gérald Norgaisse, the new acting Commissioner of the Government, Me Carlos Herculethe president of the Bar Association of Port-au-Prince, Me Jean-Michel Raymond, Dean of the Civil Court of First Instance, Me Lény Telisma, Commissioner of the Government of Croix-des-Bouquets, Mary Yolène Gilles, one of the leaders of the National Network for the Defence of Human Rights (RNDDH) and several senior members of the police institution.

In his speech, Mr. Rameau Normil promised to fight with the utmost energy against impunity in the respect of individual liberties “My primary concern will be to continue to work to safeguard and secure the foundations and the democratic values ​​of our society […] respect and protect what is most dear, life and individual goods […] all criminals will be pursued and prosecuted with the utmost rigor,” adding that he intended to make of the DCPJ the strong link in the chain criminal “Under my administration, crime in all its forms will be fought.”

For his part, Godson Aurélus in his speech took the opportunity to make a positive assessment of the sixteen months he spent at the head of the DCPJ and declared “I have great confidence in him. By his integrity, morality and skills, he will contribute to assist the country in the fight against illicit drug trafficking and insecurity […]”
