The U.S. diplomat, Hillary Clinton, is in six hours try to solve the political crisis that remains crippled Haiti two months ago. Clinton arrives at 13:00 local time and will meet in a ‘marathon’ day with President Rene Preval, the three leading candidates and members of civil society in search of a solution.

In recent weeks Washington has pushed for Preval to accept the report of the Organization of American States (OAS) that separates your dolphin, Jude Celestin, of the race. The technical report prepared for fifteen of the OAS report that all candidates were fraud, although further the government candidate, hence it is recommended that out of the second round of voting and that is disputed between Mirlande Manigat law professor, and Kompa the popular singer, Michelle Martelly.

Clinton’s arrival in Haiti is the latest attempt to salvage a situation before the election on Wednesday the Council (CEP) to make public the final results of the first round.

On 21 January, the United States withdrew the visas of any number of “responsible government” Haitians. It was a way of exerting pressure to achieve an election “free, fair and credible” on the island, as the State Department said.

U.S. even threatened to withdraw its assistance to Haiti’s reconstruction after the earthquake a year ago. The runoff election is scheduled for March 20.

  1. I find these comments discusting. I resent the UN and US
    interfearence in Haitian polutics. The threats issued to refuse to honor passports or visas out of line. Where do they come off treating a small country like Haiti as a step child? I feel sad at the way the United States Government officials treat other countries in recent years.
