Haiti - Politic : French Parliamentary Mission in Haiti

A Parliamentary Mission composed of five French Deputies of Group “France-Haiti Friendship” of the National Assembly, is visiting Haiti from 8 to 15 April 2016.

Led by the President of the Group Mathieu Hanotin (Deputy of Seine-Saint-Denis), the delegation includes: Daniel Gibbs (Deputy of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin), Yves Nicolin (Deputy of the Loire), Benoît Hamon (Deputy of Yvelines) and Sergio Coronado (Deputy of the 2nd district of French citizens living outside of France).

The visit aims to establish friendly relations with the newly elected Chamber of Deputies and to be informed, through field visits, of the cooperation partnership at work between France and Haiti, particularly in the areas of education and higher education, health, tourism and urban development.

Monday the delegation visited the Martissant neighborhood rehabilitated with the help of France and legally the artistic village of Noailles. The parliamentarians also went the College Catts Pressoir well as to the Higher School of Infotronique (ESIH).

After giving a lecture to students of the French Lycée Alexandre Dumas and its partner institutions, they were received by President a.i. Jocelerme Privert.

Monday evening, the French delegation attended a dinner at the residence of France in the presence of Haitian counterparts and the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Cholzer Chancy.

Tuesday the French Parliamentary Mission, accompanied by the Ambassador of France in Haiti, Elizabeth Béton Delègue spent a few hours in Parliament where a working session was organized at the House of Representatives who took the opportunity to establish, for its part, a Haiti Inter-France Friendship Committee chaired by the Deputy Jerry Tardieu and composed of three presidents of political blocs, the President of the Foreign Affairs Commission, two representatives of the Bureau and the President of the Chamber of deputies.

The members of the Mission met later, the members of
bureau of the Senate to the diplomatic lounge of the Legislative Palace and afterwards, they also visited the construction site of the Hospital of the State University of Haiti co-financed by the French and American cooperation.
