Late yesterday a mob of Aristide/Preval vandals desecrated the old cathedral in Cap Haitian breaking statues of the Saints and smashing fixtures. One statue was over 200 years old and was smashed into small pieces.
There was a concert in front of the cathedral last night and it is believed the damage was done then because the noise would be masked by music.
It is said that the disgrace was the result of Archbishop Kebreau speaking kindly of President Martelly.

The people of this city openly blame Senator Moise Jean-Charles for this sacrilege. He is very close to Preval and Aristide. They also blame Senator Kelly Bastien.
Jean-Charles was Aristide’s Voodoo priest – Houngan. As magistrate he murdered and beat people in the area. He was appointed to the Senate by Preval because none of us voted for this criminal.
The attack on our cathedral is a violation of our special community, a violation that outrages all members of our society, believers and non-believers.
The fact that Senator Moise Jean-Charles, Senator Kelly Bastien and their band of criminals saw fit to attack our Holy Place has done a fatal damage to Lavalas in this community. Those who committed this crime, for these senators, have already boasted to others.
If there is a God, these malefactors will pay the ultimate price. There is no place in our community for people like this.
This crime was carried out against the Church in reprisal for Kebreau’s speech for Martelly inauguration. One man’s words, for another, have been the weapon that destroy our Father’s heritage.
There is no consience any mores.
