BIG STUDENT PROBLEMS IN CHAMPS DES MARS

November 19, 2013

Yesterday’s demonstrations saw a clash between students and PNH personnel in which tear gas grenades were fired.

An unexploded grenade was picked up, by a student, who planned to throw it back at the police.

It exploded in the man’s hand, resulting in severe burns.

Bands of student, joined by other violent elements, used the incident as a reason to attack and damage dozens of cars in downtown Port-au-Prince. Some innocent people were injured.

The Martelly government must reconcile potential differences, between the government, and the students before things escalate.

Aristide agitators are working to create an explosive situation in which the students will be used as a detonator for bigger problems.

Students have been a key element in the past,  during the earlier presidencies.

One must also understand the fact that a student, in Haiti, might be 30 years old.
