There are members, of the varied levels of Haitian society, who have absolutely no interest in Haiti, or its 12,000,000 citizens, Their agendas are personal agendas that cannot be disrupted by Jovenel Moise’s promise to clean up corruption, collact taxes and put the Nation on a sound financial footing, expected by the World Bank, IDB and others…. if we are to qualify for their help.
At the moment we are losing enough to cover Haiti’s modest budget of roughly $1,500,000,000 (The Dominican Republic’s budget is roughly 10X that amount) if we just collected taxes due, and charged due to APN, DOUANE and other governmental agencies.

PNH Chief Gedeon is making a fortune moving contraband, including cement, from the Dominican Republic. How else could he afford the $1,000,000 home in Coral Springs, or deposit fortunes in his Bank of America accounts, on a wage of $1,000 USD per month.
If President Moise is to move forward, his personal security must be guaranteed. Gedeon’s PNH cannot do this. It would be useful for the Americans to send 300 Marines to consolidate the Palace Security and help professionalize a force that is losing hundreds who become “Phantoms” having others collect their paychecks, while they live elsewhere…. such as New York, Miami and Boston. A few are in California.
Time for the International Community, with emphasis on the Americans, to put some effort towards protecting their massive investment in Democracy.
