As expected, the Martelly elections have started off as a disaster, with the first signs last night, as dissatisfied people attacked voting locations, burned MINUSTAH and CEP vehicles.
Voter turnout very, very, very low!!
This won’t bother Martelly, MINUSTAH, or CEP who already have the results set in stone.
Should have saved millions of dollars and wasted time. Just publish what they want Haitian people to accept.
CEP chief Opont gave Mandates at 9 – 10 PM August 8 to Martelly allies from, PHTK, Verite, Bouclier and KID. . These required for admission of political party observers to voting places.
Because he “lacked printer ink,” Opont others they must pick theirs up at the BED – voting location. Just think! What chance of your finding a printer with ink in Bombardopolis!!! People who take his advice will be frustrated when they arrive at their respective BED locations. But they will be miles away from Opont who is not answering his phones.

All vehicle traffic prohibited making it impossible for most to travel the long distances to their voting locations. This mirrors earlier elections when people – in many cases – had to travel 20 miles to the location given them by CEP.
Often they would arrive, only to be told their names were not on list.
0600 Voting locations supposed to open.
0830 many not yet open and do not have voting material – BALLOTS!!!
A few locations have so many observers crowded in that there is no room for voters.
Media Center supposed to open at Hotel Caraibe – 0700 – not ready, still being cleaned.
Reports of people with no Electoral Cards being allowed to vote while those with Electoral cards blocked from voting – all at same locations.
We predict that – should the open Vote Counting Center at 1200 the election results will be accepted – no matter how fraudulent or flawed.
Preval was elected under similar circumstances.
People in Petit Goave said it all.. “Guys who should be in jail will become Senators and Deputies. They have stolen all the money.”
