UN offers legal assistance to prosecute Haiti’s former dictator-Added COMMENTARY By Haitian-Truth

New York – UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay offered legal assistance on Tuesday to Haiti so it can prosecute former dictator Jean-Claude Duvalier, who returned last month to the country after a 25-year exile in France…but what about MINUSTAH, Preval and Aristide

Pillay said from her office in Geneva that major human rights violations had taken place during Duvalier’s reign from 1971-86. Duvalier, dubbed Baby Doc, has been accused of looting the impoverished country’s coffers and ordering atrocities against the opposition.

Duvalier was briefly detained in Port-au-Prince and released, but has not left the country. Haiti has been traumatized by the devastating January 2010 earthquake and an on-going cholera epidemic, and its justice system is considered weak.

‘Haiti has an obligation to investigate the well-documented, serious human-rights violations that occurred during the rule of Mr Duvalier and to prosecute those responsible for them,’ Pillay said.

‘Such systematic violations of rights cannot remain unaddressed. The thousands of Haitians who suffered under this regime deserve justice. I call on the Haitian authorities to send a message to the world that their national courts can ensure accountability for serious violations of human rights, even in difficult humanitarian and political contexts.’

Pillay insisted that there was no statute of limitations under international law for violations such as torture, extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances and rape. Duvalier was charged by Port-au-Prince with corruption, misappropriation of funds and illicit association after his return.

Pillay must be smoking some of that Haitian powder, or she is involved with Michele Montas in her foolish attacks on Duvalier. A proper investigation of her husband’s death will show that she was complicit – by American and Canadian standards – in the murder of Jean Dominique, along with Rene Preval and Jean Bertrand Aristide.

Let us pursue all the suspects to discover the truth. Such a study might show Duvalier in a good light with Preval and Aristide in the darkness, or do  the UN human rights people march to a biased agenda??

Once again, I quote Ernest Preeg in his monograph on the Reagan Caribbean Basin Initiative when he stated: “It can honestly be said that the Jean Claude Duvalier presidency is the longest period of violence-free stability in the nation’s history.”

Is Ambassador Preeg a liar??

I think not.

On the other hand, Amaral Duclona, the Preval gang-leader, extradited from the Dominican Republic to France, for the murder of a French Consul, testified to the fact that he had killed many people, including the French Consul, on Preval/Aristide orders.

And  Peter Jennings,  the ABC anchor who listed 89 political murders including Sylvio Claude, Roger Lafontant, Max Mayard, Pastor Leroy, Mireille Durocher Bertin, Father Jean Marie Vincent, Antoine Izmery….and on, and on..

Why don’t we have a Truth Commission and let people find out reality. Obviously the UN does not deal in the commodity.  Any honest search for the Truth will also see many MINUSTAH members, past and present, facing serious charges which include child molestation, murder, kidnap, drug-dealing, corruption, and probably parking offences.

Beware of the Pandora’s Box that may contain many unwanted revelations, including one that clears Duvalier, but torpedoes the others.

  1. U.N. rights chief urges governments to free dissenters

    By Robert Evans, Reuters
    Dec 8, 2010

The U.N. human rights chief Navi Pillay, under fire for declining to attend the Nobel Peace Prize award to a Chinese dissident, called Wednesday for the release of all prisoners jailed for promoting democracy.

[Pillay] is facing criticism for turning down an invitation to Oslo Friday. Her office says she can not go because she is presiding over the rights day ceremonies at the United Nations’ European headquarters in Geneva, to be addressed by campaigners for human rights from around the world.

Geneva-based non-governmental organization U.N. Watch, referring to what diplomats say is strong pressure from Beijing that has led to some 20 countries saying they will not attend the Nobel ceremony, urged her not to “kowtow” to China, which says Liu is a criminal.

Chinese dissidents in the West have accused Pillay of abdicating her responsibilities and newspapers in Europe said her refusal to go reflected U.N. impotence in the face of a major power such as China…

Pillay’s decision may have been dictated by her chief, U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, himself under fire from rights groups for not pressing Beijing to free Liu, serving an 11-year sentence on subversion charges.

NAVI PILLAI-HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSIONER OF THE UNITED NATIONS HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL ACTED AGAINST THE IDEALS 0F THE UN WHEN SHE SENT A MESSAGE 0N THE HUMAN RIGHTS SITUATION IN SRI LANKA ON 26TH MAY 2009 TO THE SPECIAL SESSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS SITUATION IN SRI LANKA. SHE IS A TAMIL PERSON HERSELF AND WAS CLEARLY BIASED AGAINST THE SRI LANKAN GOVERNMENT. SHE HAD A CONFLICT OF INTEREST AND THEREFORE SHOULD HAVE DISQUALIFIED HERSELF. FAILURE TO DO SO DISQUALIFIES HER FROM HOLDING THAT POSITION IN THE UN!

HER STATEMENT THAT “FOR ITS PART, THE GOVERNMENT USED HEAVY ARTILLERY ON THE DENSELY POPULATED CONFLICT ZONE, DESPITE ASSURANCES THAT IT WOULD TAKE PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT CIVILIANS. THIS AND THE REPORTED SHELLING OF A HOSPITAL CLINIC ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS IN THE LAST WEEK OF FIGHTING, IF VERIFIED,WOULD BE OF GREAT CONCERN. ALLEGATIONS THAT THE ARMY MAY HAVE KILLED LTTE MEMBERS WHO WERE TRYING TO SURRENDER AND WHO THUS MAY QUALIFY AS ‘HORS DE COMBAT’, IF CONFIRMED, WOULD CONSTITUTE SERIOUS VIOLATIONS OF WAR” WAS BASELESS AND UNFOUNDED.

GOVERNMENT OF SRI LANKA HAD CATEGORICALLY DENIED ALL THOSE ALLEGATIONS AS UTTERLY FALSE AND SHE WAS WELL AWARE OF THAT!

THE FACT THAT HER MESSAGE DID NOT GET ANY SUPPORT IN THE SESSION AND WAS DEFEATED 29-112 WITH 6 ABSTAINING-CONFIRMS THAT SHE WAS UNFAIR AND BIASED. SHE HAS DISQUALIFIED TO HOLD THE ESTEEMED POSITION OF GRAVE RESPONSIBILITY IN THE AUGUST BODY.

THIS PETITION THAT WILL BE FORWARDED TO THE SECRETARY GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS -HONORABLE BAN KI MOON- ASKS HIM TO TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION TO DISMISS NAVI PILLAI-A TAMIL PERSON- WHO HAS BY HER UNFAIR ACTION SUPPORTED INTERNATIONAL TERRORISM AND TAMIL TIGER TERRORISTS-THE LTTE OF SRI LANKA- AND HAS FORFEITED HER RIGHT TO HOLD THAT POSITION THAT NEEDS UNBIASED AND FAIR ACTION EVERY TIME, ALL THE TIME! THAT IS TOO IMPORTANT A POSITION WITH GRAVE RESPONSIBILITY AND MUST BE HELD BY A RESPONSIBLE PERSON.
UNITED NATIONS MUST DISMISS HER FROM THAT POSITION FORTHWITH.

  3. THE DOUBLE STANDARDS OF NAVI PILLAY

Let’s compare Navi Pillay’s urge to condemn Israel at the Islamic toy Committee for Human Rights and her lack of urge to condemn much worse facts (in Darfur) and her total lack of empathy towards the sufferings of the new Nobel Prize for Peace, the Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo. Navi Pillay made a mockery of Human Rights in the UN.

In the two years since her appointment in September 2008 as UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Ms. Pillay has only referenced China in three statements, including one in 2009 that dealt with Mr. Liu, said UN Watch. During the same period, Pillay criticized the United States in seven statements, including a New York Times op-ed that accused the U.S. of having “eroded many of the most basic human rights guarantees of the modern era.”

Fantastic double standards for China and USA, whose influences in the UN should be at least equal!
These double standards are applied as well for Israel on one side and its Islamist enemies on the other side. But in this case, Islamist influence on the UN is of course greater than that of Israel.

Yet, should human rights be a matter of political influence and, in the case of USA vs China, political partisanship?

[As the question is rethorical, the antisemitic bunch is not invited to give its answer to it.]

And double standards are a sure sign of antisemitism
