Queen Sophia has become so detached from reality that she believes the Haitian people do not understand exactly what is going on. She is so focused on her personal greed that she fails to understand the Haitian population knows exactly what has happened – who is doing what, and to whom… who is having an affair with someone’s spouse… who is stealing from the treasury!!
Queen Sophia believes she can throw a few baubles to the poor and have their undying appreciation.
Wrong!
They understand that the promised Martelly Education has not arrived as promised.
They know that a lot of cash was taken from the Ministry of Education for such frivolities as Seminars – at $70,000US a pop – that never occurred. The cash went into pockets. They know the Minister of Education has his paid people on the staffs of every media outlet in Haiti – guaranteeing a good image for him – but no quality education, for their children.
The threw stones and bottles at Queen Sophia and shouted, “ WE DON’T NEED TOYS!!! WE NEED PHARMACIES AND HOSPITALS… WE KNOW THE PRIMATURE (LAURENT LAMOTHE) NOT SOPHIA!!!”
At the time of writing this article, Queen Sophia had retreated. Three cars were destroyed and a lot of fires set.
The Martelly government is headed for rough waters – especially with the appointment of Evans Paul as the new Prime Minister, replacing the popular, highly effective Laurent Lamothe.
The International Community will not like Evans Paul and Haiti’s political parties have already said they will not accept him.
The Senate says they will support Evans Paul, as Prime Minister, provided that Martelly give them prolongation until the elections.
Simple bribery to maintain their criminal status quo/ a protection for many murderers and drug dealers.
Martelly seems set on destroying all he has accomplished.
You are right, yet again.
Laurent Lamothe was abandoned when the DEA moved to arrest Sophia’s brother Kiko, one of Haiti’s many, many drug dealers. Some cynics suggest Sophia was, and remains his partner.
Martelly could have finished his presidency a success; now he will be lucky to finish at all.
Pamela White, our ambassador, must accept a great deal of the blame for this unfortunate scenario. She has played a bad part in Haiti’s ongoing tragedy.
Sophia removed Laurent Lamothe’s popular, effective Education Minister, Vanneur Pierre and replaced with a guy who would give her cash. Haiti’s children have suffered because of her greed. She claims to care about our small ones but she only cares about her bank balances.
Martelly, like Duvalier, will be destroyed by his wife’s greed.
And Haiti will suffer – again.
Laurent Lamothe is better to be away from this gang of crazies. Perhaps they are using Kiko’s products.
Even the peasants have a better understanding than most in Petion-Ville but lack the grassroots to make things occur. Do not mistake the nonactivity for not knowing the truth.
Martelly will fall because of Lamothe’s departure and Kiko will be finally arrested, no matter what.
And the poor lose once again.
Martelly is a loser.
8 PM: I am watching news in Haiti and syndicates are accusing Education Ministre Manigat of theft involving large sums of money.
They should never replace Vanneur Pierre Laurent Lamothe’s Education Ministre with Sophia’s Manigat.
Martelly will be leaving soon, going back to South Florida with wifey, his whole Family will depart like the Duavaliers….
Ayiti will be freed but with Great Caution against the Whites, Mulattoes of Petion-Ville and the Arabs in the Senate…who vying only their pockets and interests
