Myrtho Pompey, sister of   historian Suzy Castor,  was killed by gunmen   in her vehicle on the way from the airport.. The killers attacked  Pompey  on Delmas 2who returned  home after living for years in Paris.

Suzy Caster’s sister, Myrtho Pompey, was killed, along with her chauffer, shortly after leaving the international airport. She had just returned to Haiti after spending several years in Paris. Her husband, also in the vehicle, escaped injury. Suzy Castor’s husband, Gerard Pierre Charles, was one of Aristide’s first close associates. Their friendship disintegrated when Charles disagreed with the path Aristide followed.

There is an investigation into the attack, which may lead nowhere.

PNH officer Reginald Guido, from the Carrefour Casserne, was killed at a checkpoint. His killers had been involved in an attempt to rob a bank. Guidos’ team members killed one of the attackers.

In other gunfights, with PNH patrols, several gunmen were killed according to PNH spokesman Gary Desrosiers.

Secretary of State Public Safety, Reginald Delva, says the government is concerned about the violence and announced the adoption of new security arrangements. He didn’t discuss the fact that the police are operating under intolerable conditions.
A number of lynchings were reported in the bidonville of Cité Plus last Saturday.

Many, many killings go unreported.  Some are political in nature, some criminal, and others are just cases of people getting even with enemies. Martelly’s refusal to deal with the problem of insecurity will be a major factor in his government’s collapse.

Because the International Community, and especially the United States…stands by – mute – as Martelly, and his band of criminals, steal everything that isn’t tied down, and some things that are…Martelly believes he can continue, without retribution.

Perhaps he can, as the world foolishly looks for another round of Democratic Continuity, as the Martelly government passes power to another, at the end of the Martelly term.  This is a fatal concept since the International Community is becoming impatient with the situation and we may see the world accept Martelly’s departure.

Our neighbors are waiting for the Haitian masses – all 9,000,000 of them – to realize Martelly is an empty promise, a many who has betrayed their faith. When this tipping point occurs we will be faced by disaster.
