As part of the Action Plan for National Recovery and the Development of Haiti, launched by the Martelly/Lamothe administration, Estrella, a Dominican company, has launched several large-scale infrastructure projects for the Haitian government. The projects include the construction of two bridge overpasses (viaducts), including one in Delmas, which is expected to be unveiled on March 31, 2015.

The construction of the two bridge overpasses, one on Delmas Road (intersection of the airport) and the other in the town of Carrefour, is part of a major road infrastructure program for the Martelly / Lamothe administration, said Phillipe Cinéas, secretary of state for the Ministry of Public Works, Transportation, and Communication during an update last week on the administration’s Action Plan for National Recovery and the Development of Haiti. Construction has already begun on the overpasses in Delmas.

Cinéas and representatives from Estrella, a Dominican construction company, expect the project to be completed by March 2015. The construction project will cost the Haitian government about $17 million. The Santiago-based company is also working on several other projects in Haiti including road construction and walkways.

Some of their major undertakings include construction on Frères Road, which began in September 2012 and is expected to be completed by the end of this month. In St. Marc, a redevelopment project was started in May 2013 and costs more than $7 million. The project will be completed by May 2015.
