Haiti - Tourism : New taxis and Politour in Toussaint Louverture International Airport

Tuesday, two months after the launch of the accompanying program for the ssociations of Tourist Taxi drivers, theMinistry of Tourism has proceeded, to the symbolic delivery of keys and to the presentation of the first 15 vehicles to drivers guides. Recall that this program is a lending arrangement with a fund of $2 million funded by the Haitian People’s Bank (BPH) and the National Credit Bank (BNC). The first phase of the project involves a fleet of 100 vehicles available for guides drivers of different recognized associations in the country.

“We are very proud and it is a pleasure for me to present, on behalf of the President of the Republic, these vehicles to these first 15 Taxi drivers. I promise them to bring more tourists in Haiti,” declared Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism adding “The idea is to improve the reception. Therefore, the means of transport must be standards.”

According to the Minister of Tourism, this Accompanying program will be extended to other tourist areas of the country including Cap-Haitien in the next step.

Minister Villedrouin took advantage of this ceremony to make an inaugural visit to the office of detachment of the “Politour” (Tourist Police), responsible for ensuring the protection of tourists in the area of ​​the Toussaint Louverture International Airport.
