MASSACRE AT MALPASSE ONGOING – OVER 30 HAITIANS MURDERED BY MACHETTE AND GUNFIRE, MANY WOUNDED AS THEY ATTEMPT TO FLEE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

November 23, 2013

The situation, in the Dominican Republic, has become impossible for Haitians born there as the Dominican government revokes citizenship. Many are trying to get to Haiti, but there is no transportation. This afternoon, at the border crossing at Malpasse, large numbers of Haitians were attacked with machettes and gunfire. A reported 30 were killed outright, while countless others have been wounded.

As of 9:25 P.M. the violence is continuing.

This could not happen without the complicity of the Dominican government, and its armed forces.

There have been recent reports of Dominican armed forces moving to reinforce the borders. These new military people must be at Malpasse.  The Dominican government has put money into the Aristide/Manigat efforts to destabilize the Martelly/Lamothe government.

Members of the OAS and United Nations must take note of this and lodge complaints against the Dominican government’s flagrant moves against a democratically elected president.

It is a matter of economics. The Dominican government, backed, in some cases by major Haitian businessmen, are upset about the Martelly/Lamothe government’s attempts to fight corruption and contraband in their efforts to save our economy. This threatens the pocketbooks of many criminals.

Time for Martelly to make an official statement and file a complaint with both the United Nations and OAS, CARICOM, and other groups.

Where are all the Human Rights nuts when you need them??? Probably drinking beer with Aristide.

  1. Yes. I visualized decapitated bodies there today. It is fearful.

  2. Man shut up,You dont like HAITI!
If you did you wouldn’t even try incite a riot by naming names. Dont you these prominent people you named here have their own sympathizers.. You think they’ll appreciate those accusations.???

    1. ML- Truth hurts sometimes. If you really loved Haiti, you should work for the better of ALL Haitians, not just your friends. Anyhow, in Oklahoma, you are not around many Haitians are you?

    2. ML-
Why is the diaspora so rude? You have your ass in the States and I am in Haiti, coordinating a number of projects that will help the poor people. How much have you contributed, other than stupid comments, since you took advantage of the United States’ hospitality?

Why should these people I have named remain anonymous. They pay poor people to demonstrate in the hope that someone will die in the process, allowing an escalation. Aristide has NEVER, NEVER, NEVER marched in the middle of his so-called supporters since he came back to Haiti. You never see Myrlande Manigat with these demonstrators.

These people have fewer supporters than you realize. They are simply using the power of $$ in a desperate nation.

They are already planning more violence for the 27th-29th which will accomplish nothing constructive. The have no alternative suggestions, or solutions.

      They want chaos, nothing more.

So far as the prominent people I have named, I know them all personally. Probably, you have never met any of them personally.

You should be forced to return to Haiti and help solve the problem.

Your mouth will not accomplish this from there.

  3. This was possible associated with a move to deport something like 500 Dominican born people of Haitian descent. 250,000 have lost their Dominican citizenship. Many of these have never been to Haiti and speak Spanish.

The Dominican Republic has declared a quiet war on Haiti, based on economic facts created by the Martelly governement effort to curb contraband and crete some sort of tax base for his nation.

  4. Haiti can’t and shouldn’t do anything about now, Haiti just got off the breathing machine. All I hope Martelly can provides transportation for all those who want to leave and make sure he ask them to take note of how many Haitians they’ ve killed. Use these Haitian as planters not slaves. Now offer our sugar half price lower. Same for coffee till Martelly criple them economically. No matter what, don’t retaliate now because they are really backed by maybe some fked-up community.
    Deal with them very smartly.

  5. I am dominican and i am against this, but i feel like haiti or their defensors are taking advantage of the situation to trash us as a nation, this has nothing to do with us as a nation, it is our government not us, i feel very sorry for what is happening and i want this issue solved as soon as possible. I know a lot of racist dominicans take advantage of this to make haitians bad about them selfs and is the saddest and hopeless feelin because as one of the few dominicans that think this way i feel akone, the worst part is that we dominicans tend to be mixed with a lot of races no just haitians that came legal or ilegally but everything that everybody sees is DR. I just don’t know how this can be fived but something has to be done

  6. As a diaspora my-self, I am giving an answer to your question Mr. Michael Collins. I was living in Haiti and was facing the struggle by my-self, but everyone seemed ignoring my effort applauding the abusers instead. When I did not feel too comfortable, I left. However, my heart is still in my country and I can help as far as I am. I will still be by-myself because nobody responds when I am trying to reach out. Actually, I am doing some work. In the next six months, you might see me actively contributing my efforts. At the meantime, I would ask everyone not to disturb the public peace. The picture is not pretty in the news.

  7. Why does this website only show the misery side of Haiti?? You’re trying to tell the world that in Haiti there’s nothing beautiful? If you are in Haiti then you know there’s more than that to show. And if you really love Haiti, how about you stop describing this country as 100% miserable? But I understand, the 100% miserable image is what brings donations right?

    1. Lisara C.
You are obviously only reading the more negatives things, and there are many of these. However, there are, and have been some neat articles about the beauty and charm of Haiti, and its people.

May I invite you to read through the AG section on this site.

Unfortunately, the negative aspects are more important now. If we do not recognize them, and move to counteract these, we will return to the Aristide/Lavalas chaos of the Aristide/Preval periods.

The danger is real. It is with us each and every day, threatening to take away what little people possess.

One cannot ignore reality. And the reality is a move to overthrow the Martelly government. It may not be the very best possible, but it is pretty good – given the circumstances and challenged Martelly must face on a daily basis.

Look more deeply at our coverage and you will see we are not that unbalanced. However, if we ignore the Dominican funded, Aristide/Manigat attempts to destabilize what remains, Haiti will slide into the abyss.

  8. Aristide and the Lavalas are the only responsible bunch for this. How can Aristide can be so stupid to destroy a country’s army with no alternative? They have done a reform of the army but not utterly destroyed it. The Dominic Republic knows that Haiti has no way to respond back, then they are killing innocent people as they please.

President Martelly needs to speak to the nation by reassuring them that the nation’s army needs to be rebuilt asap and put Aristide and Manigat’s groups that are destroying the country with manifestion with no real alternative to jail for life. It is time for Haitian to stand and fight back smartly by rebuilding internally and show all that we can do it so that others like the Dominicain Republic will respect us again.

The dominicain used to be our bitch for 25 years now they see the opportunity to pay off back through pure evil hatred for being an haitian old colony.

  9. We need the Haitian-Army and an air force(defensive purposes). Second money for protest/denationalization should be illegal. The guilty should spend 1 year in prison with extensive community service. If the responsible is a state, cut all ties and ask for immediate sanctions. What is happening in Haiti now resembles terrorism. Burning private property and protesting in front of foreign government buildings should be punished harshly. A man is entitled to his rights as long as he/she does not violate someone else’s rights.

  10. @ MICHAEL COLLINS:
Don’t worry about things looking negative. It’s not about negative or positive, it’s about reality. Report what you see. This is not about showing positives. How can we show beaches and say it’s peaceful when these morons are out in the streets getting their hands blown off and setting fires? If this is the truth, then thanks for reporting it. There are many articles on here talking about developments in Haiti. However, these advancements are about to go down the drain. We need to fix this now. Haitian-truth, continue to live up to your name and not to popular opinion. Thanks always.

  11. The only way we can hurt them now and peacefully is in their pocket book. Remember Haiti is the second market for Santo Domingo. So therefore we need to stop buying their crap and they will realize that we have power. As a Haitian leaving in Haiti I decide not to use anything made in Dominican Republic. I will talk to others to do the same. We need to educate our people to be strong and be one. Let us united behind our government. We need to make a sacrifice for the sake of our country.

  13. first need to know that Dominican Republic has a border for the legislation that Haitians born in the Dominican Republic. must have a border and a control as it has united states to mexico. You should also know that Haitians do not have high birth documents and where it was born and according to what I read a hospital called baez cabral de santiago dominican republic pays more than twenty-five Dominican peso billion in spending in Haiti undocumented expenses that are no country would do it with other countries.

  14. If you continue to spread false news, you will cause a Caribbean Rwanda. There was one Haitian killed on the aftermath of the killing of a Dominican couple, of which is some Haitian nationals are accused.

One more thing: The problem with the sentence of the Constitutional Tribunal does not involve Haitians. These people are Dominicans as any of us. You are not helping their cause by calling them Haitians, because that’s precisely our point: They are Dominicans!

    1. Eddy
Unfortunately, our news happens to be true. Almost 50 Haitians (although you claim they are Dominicans, not Haitians) were killed a Malpasse. It doesn’t matter what their nationality, these poor people have been shot and hacked to death with machetes.

We have had people on the location and Dominican authorities have suppressed the news, and will continue to suppress news on the abuse of the 250,000 who may have lost their citizenship.

You talk of Rwanda. You should also remember that this disaster could have been avoided, had someone said something, in the beginning. Remember, President Trujillo murdered over 30,000 Haitians in 1937. It won’t reach this type of total now, but a few dozen sends the same message.

Now reports, from inside the Dominican military suggest a few dozen more have been killed in Barahona two days ago. From your name, I don’t know if you are Dominican or Haitian. Whichever the case may be, you should be worried about these poor – now Stateless – people who have been abandoned by everyone.

We met with a team that just returned from the border last night. They tell of ongoing violence and deaths. The two people who managed to have their deaths slip into the media, justifying another violent Dominican reaction – and the deportation of a thousand, perhaps more of your “Dominicans” is a reality.

Several hundred thousand people are at risk.

      Someone must speak up.

      Otherwise more will die.

      Well, more will die anyway.

This entire crime is based on economic factors. The Dominican government is upset about the fact President Martelly is trying to regularize the contraband situation, along the border, so that our treasury can collect some taxes to pay bills. We will never stop contraband totally, but we need to gain some tax revenue.

I am not particularly religious but Jesus once said…”You are your brother’s keeper.” These unwanted Haitians, Dominicans, or whatever you wish to call them, are our brothers, and sisters. We must do what we can to help them in their time of desperate need.

Enjoy the comfort of the United States where you have food stamps, free medical treatment, free school for your children, electricity 24 hours per day and forget the people who have been driven, like animals, across the border to sleep on the grounds, with no shelter. Luckily, President Martelly is supplying food for them.

  16. MICHAEL COLLINS I disagree with the way the Haitian society and its government is handling the situation act with society and the Dominican government . that two countries sharing the same island, have the same story but with different event. the Dominican Republic has been very generous with Haitian brothers with vast walk the streets of any city in Dominican Republic or realize how they move and decembuerven Haitians in the country even if you have papers . all countries of the world have their own laws and rules of migration and Dominican Republic is no exception . the Dominican Republic was the first country in the world that was in support of their hnos . when the Haitian earthquake of January 2010, the country put all hospitals , institutions and resources available to the people of Haiti , the Dominican society in generating meaning friend gave their hands. enough to visit a medical center to see the love for the Dominican serve . In the Dominican Republic there are more than two million Haitians , working and begging on the streets and no one says anything , I think the problems haiti it is in the minds of its citizens, who have become accustomed to their problems are solved by other nation. haiti was the first country to have its liberties america and is the poorest continent fruit of their evil and corrupt government, little ability to organize and lack of humility to be helped country haiti governments have had the support of many international institutions for years and still have not been able to organize and take off with good feet. the Dominican Republic can not under any circumstances the problem of haiti jump into the pit , he would do so drawn into their socio- economic and political situation. I think what you should do is be grateful Haitians and take responsibility for problems with move forward as a free state .

  17. What if the United States, Porto Rico, and Canada; just to name a few countries where you fine an overwhelming amount of undocumented Dominicans, and immigrant ones too decided to deport all of them to the Dominican Republic; suddenly, they would cry discrimination by those Green goes. It’s proven they’re a bunch of hypocrite ignorants. However, our Haitian government along with our diaspora leaders in America need to file a complaint to the United Nations and to the amnesty international; and to other international organizations that this case may concern. In addition, we should begin boycotting any products made or endorsed by the Dominican Republic; we should also educate our people in Haiti on how to do the same. Dominican Republic has a weak economy that mostly relies on tourism, they should buckle rather quickly with any organized pressure we put on them.

  18. The chaos that is currently developing in SD is the result of our abandonment of our own responsibility as a people. For centuries, the only thing that Haitians are concerned with is “Hate”. We hate ourselves, we hate our brothers and sisters, we hate our government (justifiably so), we hate our neighbors and their neighbors, we hate those who love us and those who serve us. We even hate our domestic animals. The hate is so deep in our beings that we know nothing better than to love those who hate us. We love Americans, we adore Dominicans, We love the people whose skin complexion differs from our own. If they are white we cherish them; if they are black we despise them.
We built to destroy, we destroy to infuriate and for pleasure. For decades, we as a people never stop to think. We act by instinct. We have lost the concept of rationalization. We obey laws created by others for us and violate our own.
Haitians young and old have long lost their identity. We don’t know who we are. We spend most our time wondering whose we are. We are always seeking assistance from others…those we want to claim for fathers and who careless about us.
If the Dominicans knew well, and I say well enough, who we are, if they did not realize that we’ve lost our identity, they would never dare in this twenty first century attempt to perpetrate such cruelty against our people.

I don’t want to claim that I have answers for these crimes. But, there’s only one way to tame insult is to elevate ones’ personality, self-worth and dignity. It starts at home…

    Thank you.

  19. OVER 30 HAITIANS MURDERED BY MACHETTE AND GUNFIRE, MANY WOUNDED AS THEY ATTEMPT TO FLEE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

I belive that is a lie, where are the gruessome pictures that show, 30 bodies?

I have never ever ever heard of haitians fleeing DR, but I truely in my heart doubt that they were muredered for attempting to leave, wich is what the authorities want.

It is not, what all dominicans want.

    Peace.

  20. Gerry St. Louis, you mean how they ALWAYS have been deporting illegal Dominicans? They send hundreds of illegal Dominicans and Dominicans who have committed crimes in USA every month, and we don’t really care because they’re ILLEGAL on foreign soil. Is not that we hate Haitians, they are welcomed to stay, is just that people here are tired of the massive flow of illegal Haitians that comes to the Dominican Republic without any control. Oh and by the way, your government has already denied the massacre.
