Michel Martelly must have forgotten that Youri Latortue has lost his popularity in the Gonaives/Artibonite sector of Haiti. Latortue was once “king” of the area but has now fallen from favor.
He has also forgotten that Latortue was a major opponent during the elections when :Latortue backed Manigat against Martelly. Mind you, he had backed Manigat after Jean-Henry Ceant refused to pay him millions for his support of Ceant’s candidacy.
Youri is a practical man and simply goes where the money is.
The people of the Artibonite are also simple, practical people. They have reminded Martelly that they are the ones who put him in power – not Latortue.
The markets are burning in Gonaives and the residents tell Martelly to watch for a major manifestation on Monday.
Perhaps the honeymoon is over.
Martelly is pressing for acceptance of Rozier as Prime Minister, even though the Chamber of Deputies and Senate have voiced opposition. He would be better to nominate someone who is not a divisive force, one who can get all sides to work together.
Martelly has one close associate who would fill this bill – GERVAIS CHARLES.
Already people on the streets are demanding the nomination of Gervais Charles and the rejection of Rouzier.
Perhaps Martelly still has ears.
He has some very poor close advisers within his inner circle and they may doom this first government.

The people of Gonaives have promised to take their feelings to Port-au-Prince on Monday.
