What should have been a gala night, without any stupid remarks, showed Sweet Mickey at his worst as he denigrated  Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe by an ignorant suggestion that “he might fire Lamothe …” King Martelly then tried to gloss this over.

Unfortunately, this is what the Irish call… “A cut and a plaster…” in which you hurt someone and then quickly apologize.  The damage has been done and then you try to look like a good guy.

Unfortunately, the egos  of King Michel and Queen Sophia cannot stand sharing that stage with anyone, even if that person – Laurent Lamothe – is giving some credibility to an otherwise corrupt and embarrassing team.

Unfortunately, King Martelly is about to maneuver a non-confidence vote against Laurent Lamothe’s government, creating more chaos in an already chaotic nation. The parliamentary circus will dance to Martelly’s cash payments, coupled by their ongoing desire to make things impossible. This impossibility will be followed by a non-confidence vote and the return of an Aristide controlled government.

This is not in anyone’s interest except those totally corrupt politicians who will do nothing without  envelopes stuffed with fresh American $100 bills. No cheques, credit cards or  gourdes, if you please.

The loss of Laurent Lamothe will see the Nation slide backwards, yet again.

He has been our best leader since the departure of Jean-Claude Duvalier.
