The Haitian National Assembly will elect a transitional president on Sunday, exactly one week after former President Michel Martelly officially stepped down from office, local legislative sources announced Wednesday. Political leaders who aspire to become presidents have until Thursday afternoon to register their candidates, the Spanish news agency EFE said.
