PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) – The Minister for Public Health and Population, Florence Duperval Guillaume resigned as minister on Monday.
The letter of resignation was delivered to Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe and the reasons for the resignation are not yet officially known by DH.
The word on Haitian radio stations is that the minister would be upset about some new appointments that were made to her ministry by the Head of Government. MAXImini , a French Caribbean news agency reports “deep disagreements” between former minister Guillaume, who was close to the Presidency, and the Prime Minister on “some issues.”
Rumors that 5 ministers would be dismissed from office had been circulating for 2 weeks. Minister Duperval had just inaugurated a new Center for Aniretroviral Treatment with the U.S. Ambassador Pamela White on Friday and entertained a visit from the head of the Organization of American States on Monday.
