Haiti braces itself for Hurricane Igor-Added COMMENTARY By Haitian-Truth

The government of Haiti has made plans to relocate thousands of homeless Haitians living in displaced persons camps as Hurricane Igor threatens to bring further misery to the earthquake-ravaged country.

Haiti’s Civil Protection Agency declared an “orange alert,” warning that several regions could be flooded as a result of heavy rains expected as Igor drew nearer.

The Category Four hurricane is expected to hit Haiti within the next 48 hours.

“Listen to announcements, follow instructions and prepare to relocate if it is necessary,” said Nadia Lochard, a spokeswoman for the agency.

Ms Lochard explained that people living in camps that faced the danger of flooding could be asked to relocate.

The January 12 earthquake killed about 250,000 people in Haiti made another 1.3 million homeless, thousands of whom remain sheltered in temporary refugee camps.

Tent cities have sprung up in and around the ruined capital of the poorest country in the Americas, with little sign that those left homeless and destitute will move into more permanent housing in the near future.

International aid has been slow in coming, with only a fraction of the funds promised for rebuilding efforts actually disbursed.

Earlier in the hurricane season, the United Nations identified 130 tent cities as being at risk from rains and winds that could further worsen conditions for the most vulnerable, including thousands of orphaned children.

If you read the article you will realize exactly how out of touch these people really are!!

Where in God’s name are the people in tents supposed to go??!!  They are in the tents because the lost everything and, because of this, have absolutely no other refuge.

Radio reports, warning of disaster, are of little use.

More misery for my Haitian people.

And the Preval government has done absolutely nothing to prepare the nation for this year’s hurricane threat.

Why should 2010 be any different.

As he did in 2008, Preval, and his team of criminals, will steal whatever relief arrives.

They are still holding a vast amount of earthquake relief supplies in Haitian Customs, refusing to release it. The Preval government hopes to frustrate people to the point at which they will transfer Title to the blocked items, to the Preval government. Then Preval can sell it with no problems, no audit.

  1. It is 3:10 on Monday after noon and the front rain from Igor has started.

I do not see any activity about moving our people from the path of floods waters. Nobody is doing anything. People talk for news articles but never leave there office.

People will suffer while the one who gave the press release lives in comfort with a roof, car and food.
