The Haitian electoral process moves forward like a blind, drunk, one legged man, without crutches.

The first round of elections was held on August 9, a disastrous, criminal  charade declared to be 99.9% acceptable by Madam Honore, MINUSTAH’s chief.  These 99.9% elections have yet to publish results, as of September 20the with no change to be seen, in this status.

How can candidate campaign for the second round, October 25th, when no one knows who qualified for the run-offs?

Some experts say at least 48 candidates are on INTERPOL lists.

We need a new Electoral Law that sets limits acceptable to the Haitian society.

Anyone should be allowed to run for office provided that they have not accepted bribes, or stolen cash, or cash equivalents in excess of $500,000…. Have not smuggled more than 10 kilos of cocaine into the State, laundered money in an amount greater than $1,000,000, kidnapped more than one person or murdered two.

Of course, this rules out all of Martelly’s inner circle, and members of his family.
CEP members must take a polygraph that shows they have not taken bribes in excess of $500,000 or cash equivalents. The house in Vive Michel and cash to build a house in Fermathe, for 2 lady members, doesn’t reach this level.

OPONT’s polygraph test would blow the fuses. He has become a multi-millionaire as CEP chief.

PHTK’s Presidential candidate, Jovenel Moise, is probably the best of the top five listed in a recent poll. Some other have character flaws including murders, kidnaps, money laundering, cocaine trafficking and tax evasion. He is an agronome, in a nation faced with disaster in its ecology and agriculture.

Unfortunately, like a Mafia chief, Michel Martelly’s sponsorship is the Kiss of Death.

Martelly has zero credibility, having expended all of his good will.

Martelly has “made a mole-hill out of a mountain” reducing a nationwide popularity in the high 70% to one that could reach negative numbers in the immediate future as nationwide unrest accelerates.

Arcahaie has become a focus of resistance and may be the lever that topples Martelly, once and for all. Buses are burned, along with dozens of motorcycles and cars. The highway is cut here, paralyzing traffic from Port-u-Prince to Cap Haitian.

We will have another melt-down which may the International Community’s goal. A few hundred dead will justify an expansion of MINUSTAH along with a hand-picked Transitional Government that will march to the UN’s tune – out of step with Haiti and its people.
