FLASH-FLASH-FLASH SUNDAY JUNE 6 – 2000 HOURS AND THE RAIN HAS STARTED AGAIN – LIGHTNING- DOWNPOUR- FLOODING…

Other than emotionally, the downpours do no have an effect upon me other than to flood the yard and leak through the roof in a few places;

For those in the streets and the temporary camps it is much different.

For the last five or six  nights we have been deluged!!   The streets in Petionville…built on a mountainside – become dangerous water flows as the millions of gallons look for an escape route. People are knocked off their feet. Large boulders are carried along like missiles. Rushing water strikes fences, cars, walls…and other things in its path…splashing upward ten feet in the air….It is spectacular, and devastating.

The water is muddy as it washes away what little topsoil remains.

Most of the massive tent camps are built in low-lying areas and flood – instantly. A number of children have been drowned, along with some older people and cripples who could not escape the attack.

It has not bee reported, but we are seeing big rises in typhus, diphtheria, tetanus…other infections.  Immediately after the January quake we asked for supplies of vaccine, but these were never forthcoming.

Now we have active cases of tetanus and this is not a nice way to die. Each day we have a dozen or so relatives looking for the injections to save infected relatives…and we have none.

The American Center for Disease Control had its building flattened by the quake. It obtained a prefabricated structure and asked for a shipping company to quote on the movement…then disappeared. Now they have resurfaced and are thinking about shipping their buildings…

No fixed date yet.

Screw the building!!!

The CDC should stay home and just send us a container of the needed vaccines and needles. We will do the rest!!!!

Haitians are dying needlessly while the world community debates who will get big contracts from the billions promised Haiti.

  1. As you say, Brazilian truck drivers are moving debris a few feet, and then dumping it for full payment.

    Haitian truck drivers could do the same criminal act but they import foreigners who pay $250 per night for a room and do not complain because of the paycheck.

    Haitians make $250 per capita per year.

    There must be some sort of lesson here.

  2. It is a pretty short trip too, for them to haul materials, and even that structure. Didn’t they have insurance? US organization like that?

    I wonder if any of these same folks were a part of the connection between the Swine Flu scare and the Vaccine company that supplied all of the hospitals?
