Just when everyone thought that Preval’s criminal daring ways – urged on and focused by his camp-follower Elisabeth Delatour-Preval – had reached its limits, with his recent theft of the $90,000,000 Venezuelan dollars that was targeted for Gonaives rebuilding, and his earlier theft of $198,000,000 from Petro Caraibe accounts… another outrage appears. This one is even bigger, and has more far-reaching effects.
Preval will now slow/block all humanitarian aid material in customs on the premise that some commercial businesses have brought non-humanitarian items in – avoiding duty. So, for some insignificant avoidance of taxes/duties (what’s new??!!) Preval will block humanitarian assistance for all of the people left homeless, plus the tens of thousands of injured…victims of the January 12 QUAKE.
His plan follows an earlier concept, aimed at the February elections – now delayed indefinitely.
The massive volume of supplies will be delayed in Customs….for a future – miraculous release – in time for his political party’s UNITE – candidates to use the supplies to buy support from the voters.
Not very subtle…but very effective.
Thousands will die because of this cold and heartless criminal concept.
Donor nations, frustrated by the delays, will discontinue their support of the Haitian rebuilding project. Like a patient, staring an antibiotic treatment…then stopping halfway through…Haiti will die a final and complete death.
Now is the time for the International Community to remove the infection – Preval/Delatour – from the Haitian body so a cure to its massive illness can be completed. Unless the poisonous, infected flesh is cut away – the body must die.
the international community is almost as much to blame as Preval et al. They know what is happening and they quietly allow it. If the Haitian people took matters into their own hands and went to the airport en masse to take the tents/supplies, they’d have to fight the American troops as well as the Haitian police.

Here it is February 25 and Preval has effectively shut down customs for all humanitarian aid, unless the recipients agree to sign the things over to the governement. Once they have Title the material is their and they can sell it, which is exactly what they have been doing with the material already under their control.
Preval, Delatour, Vorbe and the rest of his Groupe Bourdon have no decency. They should also have no visas or access to foreign travel. I know this is not a real possibility since people like Chavez and Castro will welcome them. But they should not be welcome in France, Canada or the States.
The international community should freeze their accounts. I can remember a report that listed over $500,000 in an offshore account for Vorbe, during the Aristide presidency. This was in Haiti Observateur and gave the bank and account number, obtained from the States Department.
If they run they should not be able to hide. Enough is enough. Someone must be seen to pay for these crimes and Preval should be first in line, followed by his wife, her brother-in-law, Vorbe and others.
When will the Haitian people rise up and demand justice?
I have little optimism.
Duvalier would be welcome were he interested in a return. He was always popular with everyone except a few greedy businessmen and the American government.
