PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) – The party of former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide is organizing from Thursday July 11 to July 15 a party summer school intended to discuss the socio-political and economic issues of Haiti in preparation for the upcoming electoral contests.
Held under the theme of “For a Society without Exclusion”, the Fanmi Lavalas Party Directing Committee is organizing the summer workshops at the Aristide Foundation for Democracy in Tabarre.
“The exclusion of Fanmi Lavalas is known, we are known to have been excluded from recent elections in the country,” said Tony Dessources an organizing committee member who was speaking Wednesday at a press conference attended by Le Nouvelliste to announce the workshops.
To address the proposed four retreats subjects, frames belonging to the structure Fanmi Lavalas and other political structures were selected by the organizers of the 2013 edition.
Scholars such as former presidential candidate, Mirlande H. Manigat (RNDP), former Prime Minister Jacques Edouard Alexis, Professor Roger Petit-Frere and former Governor of the Central Bank, Jean Fritz, are among the main speakers at the summer school.
The party of former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide does not hide its objectives. This activity must, among other things, help to generate ideas to improve the platform of the party for the upcoming elections.
“The summer school is part of an overall work, this work aims to strengthen the organization of Fanmi Lavalas and set new directions. Today, Fanmi Lavalas is not in power but as a political force, we prepare to assume responsibilities in the country,” said Claude Roumain, coordinator of the university which was addressed to the press.
Apart from presentations and discussions on topics such as democracy, the rule of law, the management of organizational structures, other socio-educational and recreational needs will also be organized during the four days. Thus, the afternoon of July 14, will be devoted to recreational activities. Musical groups like Brothers Posse RAM and give a show in the courtyard of the Aristide Foundation. The closing day of sitting, Monday, July 15, expressed solidarity day by the organizers. Charitable activities will be organized on this day to help those in need, according to Dr. Maryse Narcisse, a member of the Steering Committee of Fanmi Lavalas.
The Summer University of Fanmi Lavalas is the second realization. Organizers say this place 2nd edition under the banner of the opening by inviting officials from other political structures to intervene. At the end of the sitting, participants will set a synthesis of different topics.
The Fanmi Lavalas party tends to reorganize itself after the return from exile of its national representative, former president Aristide in March 2011. A political force that is stronger in the forthcoming elections.
