Haiti - NOTICE : Electricity and matches of the World Cup 2014

In a statement, the Directorate General of Electricity of Haiti (EDH) inform the general public and its customers in particular of the metropolitan region, that on the occasion of the 2014 World Cup (12 June to 13 July), it will provide in the extent of its possibilities, access to electricity in the hours of sports competitions.

“Given the amount of MW available on the grid, the EDH calls for the cooperation of all, to help him in his task by unplugging during the 2 hours of matches, all appliances and household appliances with high energy consumption such as : Refrigerator, Iron, freezer, washing machine, incandescent bulbs, dryers, air conditioners, electric ovens…

EDH also urges people who are rerouting (illegal) to stop this practice which could result in a general trigger on the circuit, preventing all those powered by this circuit to enjoy the games.

The Directorate also invites consumers to regularize their illegal connections, and its debtor clients to make the effort to meet its electricity bills.”

Pending the opening match Brazil-Croatia at 4:00 pm (Haiti time) of the 2014 World Cup, which will be attended by 8 countries that have won the legendary Trophy (Brazil, Uruguay, Germany, Spain, England, Italy, France and Argentina) let us remember there is 40 years (1974) of the match of the World Cup Haiti-Italy when Philippe Vorbe (midfielder), had almost shot in the nets of Italian goalkeeper (2:22 of the video) and of course the unforgettable historic goal of Mannon Sanon (2:50) of the video.

An encounter which unfortunately ended with the defeat of Haiti [3-1]

Note also that yesterday, Philippe Vorbe signed a book about his life as a footballer.
