D’HAITI AND IVANKOVIC SIGN WITH NCAA DIV. I SCHOOLS

Gainesville, FL – Two more members of the Santa Fe Saints men’s basketball team have signed letters of intent with four year institutions, Coach Chris Mowry announced. Eddie D’Haiti (pictured bottom) inked with Florida A&M University and Ilija Ivankovic signed with the University of North Carolina-Charlotte.

D’Haiti joins a FAMU team that finished the 2010-11 season 12-20 overall and 7-9 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. The Rattlers are coached by newly hired Clemon Johnson, the former head coach at the University of Alaska Fairbanks from 2007-2010. Johnson is a graduate of FAMU (1978) and played 10 years in the NBA, winning a championship with the Philadelphia 76ers in 1983.

As a sophomore at SF, 6’8″ D’Haiti averaged 11.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 23 minutes per game. For his efforts, he was named to the All Mid-Florida Conference First Team.

Ivankovic, a 6’10” center, signed his LOI with Atlantic 10 Conference member UNC-Charlotte, bolstering a 49ers roster that returns their top four leading scorers next season. Charlotte, led by head coach Alan Major, finished 2010-11 with a 10-20 overall record and 2-14 in the A-10 during a rebuilding season.

In his one season with Santa Fe, Ivankovic averaged 4.3 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.

Both players will have two years of eligibility remaining at their respective institutions.
