Daily report January 28, 2010- Direct from Haiti

PREVAL COULD MAKE $20,000,000 WITH THE 200,000 TENTS.

If President Rene Preval is not greedy, and leaves some room for others to profit, he can make a cool $20,000,000 through the sale of relief tents.

He speak out of two sides of his mouth

On the International Stage he pleads for tents to keep his people from suffering.

On the Haitian stage, as late as yesterday, Preval said he didn’t  want tents for his people. If he gave the Haitians tents they would “stay where they were….”    I don’t know what he has in his mind. God is about to solve the problem for many Haitians. Rain is forecast for Saturday. This will result in colds and the colds will develop into pneumonia because of the populations weakend condition. No food has brought them to the edge of disaster.

THIS IS AN ARTICLE THAT APPEARED IN AMERICAN MEDIA OUTLETS.

New York – Haitian President Rene Preval requested on Monday 200,000 tents to be provided quickly to homeless Haitians before the country is hit by the rainy season, the UN mission in Haiti said. Preval made the request when he visited the newly reconstituted headquarters of the UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) in Port-au-Prince after the previous one collapsed on January 12, struck by the magnitude-7 earthquake.

Anthony Banbury, speaking on behalf of Edmond Mulet, the acting MINUSTAH chief who was attending the international conference in Montreal, said Preval wants the tents, including military ones, to be large enough to shelter six to eight people each.

The UN said as many as 800,000 Haitians would need shelters after losing their homes to the earthquake.

Banbury said MINUSTAH is “up and running” 13 days after the quake, which killed at least 112,000 people, according to government estimates. The chief of MINUSTAH, Hedi Annabi of Tunisia, and his deputy Luiz Carlos da Costa of Brazil were killed by the quake.

The UN suffered 82 dead as of Monday and 53 staff are still unaccounted for – the worst loss ever in the history of UN peacekeeping. The mission had been in Haiti since 2004 providing security as the country struggled to establish democratic order.

Banbury said in a videoconference from Port-au-Prince with reporters at UN headquarters in New York that the UN mission has been revamped and a new structure and personnel have been added to make if operational again in response to the urgent needs of the Haitian people.

GET YOUR BIDS IN EARLY SO PREVAL CAN CLOSE THE DEAL QUICKLY. THEN HE CAN FOCUS UPON STEALING OMETHING ELSE. THERE IS A GOOD MARKET FOR RICE IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC AND PHARMACEUTICALS ARE ALWAYS IN DEMAND – WHERE PEOPLE CAN PAY PREVAL’S BARGAIN BASEMENT PRICE. AFTER ALL – THEY DIDN’T COST HIM ANYTHING OTHER THAN 100,000 HAITIAN LIVES.

*******

I GUES SOMEONE OUT THERE DOESN’T TRUST PREVAL. HE WAS JUST ON TV COMPLAINING THAT – ALTHOUGH THERE WERE HUNDREDS OF MILLION BEING TALKED ABOUT – HIS GOVERNMENT HAS NOT RECEIVED A PENNY!

EVEN AS HE APPEARED ON TV AND INTERNATIONAL GROUP WAS HANDING OUT TENTS TO A GROUP OF HOMELESS PEOPLE PACKED INTO PARC STE THERESE, A SOCCER FIELD IN PETIONVILLE. SOME 5,000 ARE PACKED INTO THIS SMALL SPACE. WITH LUCK, TENTS ARE BEING HANDED OUT ELSEWHERE.

IT IS REALLY TIME FOR PREVAL AND BELLERIVE TO STEP DOWN AND LET REAL PEOPLE MANAGE THE NATION.
