COMMENT: HAITIAN-TRUTH.ORG MARTELLY OR DEATH SEEMS TO BE THE CRY OF HAITI’S YOUNG MAJORITY – 54% OF THE VOTERS ARE UNDER 25

This was a comment on an article in which the lady suggested Manigat would be the first lady president and Manigat was in a near tie with Martelly.

WELL NOW, I WITNESSED MARTELLY’S RALLY IN PETIONVILLE, ON THE EVENING/NIGHT OF MARCH 16 AND WAS TRULY STUNNED BY THE ENERGY AND ENTHUSIASM OF 20 OR 30,000 YOUNG PEOPLE WHO GATHERED TO SUPPORT THEIR CANDIDATE.

I have decided to give the comment on its own, to stand by itself.

Here we go again. A well-meaning reporter who has not bothered to seek the facts.

Manigat would not be the first female president of Haiti. Ertha Pascal Truillot was the first lady president of this nation   following Prosper Avril and leading up to the elections of 1991 in which Aristide became president.

They are not in a dead heat and this is a cruel lie that may allow the International Community an opportunity to – once again – steal the vote and install someone the people did not select.

Rene Preval was such a selection.

In 2006 Preval had 23% of the vote. This was expanded – by MINUSTAH’s Brazil and Chile – to the point where he had 51% and avoided a run-off in which Charles Baker would have won.

Now the November 28 first run was violated by Preval who had his Preval-controlled electoral council fix the vote so that the real winner, Jean-Henry Ceant, was knocked out, leaving Manigat – who really had 4.5% as one of the leading candidates.

Manigat’s popularity has not increased, but the media and International Community continue the charade because they are frightened of the Martelly threat. In fact, the American Embassy and MINUSTAH suggested that Manigat campaign without the media so that the world would not realize her true lack of popularity.  She holds rallies and no one appears. She tries to hold rallies and people throw stones at her car.

On the other hand, Martelly has swept the nation in a series of political meetings that draw massive, happy crowds who are set on putting him in the palace, or whatever serves the purpose today.

People believe that Aristide’s return is an attempt to provide the rationale for the cancellation of the vote.

This would/will be a disastrous mistake!!

The International Community, OAS, Hillary Clinton, the White House and American Embassy have mouthed words, to the effect that THE RESULTS SHOULD REFLECT THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE….and then set out to deny this WILL!!!

Ambassador Merten held a secret meeting a week ago in which he said…”Let me get to the point. The bottom line is, I want the lady!!” meaning, of course, that he was demanding Manigat’s win. He then modified his position in public, but the real thrust remains. Manigat, or cancellation!!

I am not supporting Martelly and believed that Jean Henry Ceant was the winner and the best solution for the Haitian crisis.

Having said that, I have seen the massive support that Martelly has among the 54% of Haitian voters who are younger that 25. They support Martelly in a way that is hard to believe.

These young people are Haiti’s future and they have been disgusted with the Preval government and the fact that the foreigners have inflicted this crime upon their community. This is their final thrust for Democracy. Deny Martelly the election by either stealing it for Manigat, or canceling it to avoid the obvious Martelly win…AND YOU DOOM THE NATION TO A POTENTIALLY FATAL EXPLOSION.

There is an old saying  that you get the government you deserve.

Well now, the International Community has screwed the situation around to the point that Martelly is going to be the winner and, by doing so, become the government Haiti deserves.

Let’s not give the coup de grace to the Democratic Process.

For better, or for worse, let us have an election that actually selects “The will of the people…” and live with it!!
