La Policía de Investigaciones (PDI) de Chile negó entre el 2 y el 5 de marzo la entrada al país a 239 ciudadanos haitianos por portar “documentación falsa”, según informaron hoy fuentes policiales.
La PDI prohibió el ingreso a 169 haitianos tras confirmar en el aeropuerto de Santiago que entregaron información “fraudulenta” respecto de su estadía y sus reservas hoteleras, y pasadas las 13.00 horas de este martes (16.00 GMT), fueron reembarcados de regreso a su país. De acuerdo con un informe difundido por la PDI, 90 de ellos viajaron al país suramericano en la aerolínea ONE; 62 en Latin American Wings (LAW) y 17 en Copa Airlines.
El pasado fin de semana, otro grupo de 70 haitianos proveniente de Puerto Príncipe también fue rechazado y embarcado de regreso al país caribeño por las mismas razones, según consignó la Policía.
La PDI explicó que “estas personas tenían reserva en el mismo hotel”, lo que obligó a verificar la información de hospedaje de los extranjeros, sin poder comprobarla.
La entidad afirmó que la deportación en este caso responde a “un procedimiento normal cuando una persona no cumple con los requisitos para ingresar al país según la ley migratoria”.
La aerolínea LAW anunció que suspenderá por 15 días su ruta entre Puerto Príncipe y Santiago, ante un “aumento de ciudadanos haitianos que han sido declarados inadmisibles por las autoridades”. La empresa aseguró que con esta medida busca “minimizar el impacto que esta situación pueda provocar en nuestros pasajeros”.
La compañía fue acusada hace algunas semanas de incumplir con los itinerarios de vuelos, provocando problemas a chilenos que viajaron a República Dominicana.
En la actualidad, según datos oficiales, hay en Chile poco más de medio millón de inmigrantes, correspondiendo los colectivos más numerosos a peruanos, bolivianos, colombianos, argentinos y ecuatorianos y en los últimos años, dominicanos, haitianos y venezolanos.
El caso de los haitianos ha llamado la atención, pues en 2013 llegaron 2.400 personas desde ese país, mientras en 2017 lo hicieron 105.000, un 138 % más que en 2016.

According to a report released by the PDI, 90 of them traveled to the South American country on the ONE airline; 62 in Latin American Wings (LAW) and 17 in Copa Airlines.
Last weekend, another group of 70 Haitians from Port-au-Prince was also rejected and returned to Haiti for the same reasons, according to the police.

The PDI explained that “these people had reservations in the same hotel”, which forced them to verify the information of the foreigners’ accommodation, without being able to verify it.
The office said that the deportation in this case responds to “a normal procedure when a person does not meet the requirements to enter the country according to the immigration law.”
LAW announced a 15 day suspension of flights betweeen Port-au-Prince and Santiago, to avoid and increase in Haitians citizens to avoid impact on customer.

The company was accused a few weeks ago of not complying with the flight itineraries, causing problems for Chileans who traveled to the Dominican Republic.
At present, according to official data, there are a little more than half a million immigrants in Chile, the most numerous collectives being Peruvians, Bolivians, Colombians, Argentines and Ecuadorians, and in recent years, Dominicans, Haitians and Venezuelans.
