CHAVEZ LOVED HAITI – AS FEW HAITIANS LOVE THEIR OWN NATION – HE RECOGNIZED THE AREA’S HISTORIC DEBT TO OUR HAITIAN FOREFATHERS – NOW WE ABANDON OUR BROTHERS & SISTERS IN VENEZUELA

Jan 12, 2019

There is an old saying – “These things shall pass.”

This is a truism that should be applied to our present situation, with a great deal of embarrassment.

Maduro will pass.

Donald Trump will pass.

But our generations’ old bond with Venezuela, and its people, should have endured beyond these passing irritants. Instead, in one cowardly blow, dealt by small men, within the Jovenel Moise government, (men who time will not recall), did grievous, permanent damage to our special relationship with Venezuela, and its people.  Perhaps this fiasco was not accidental. Perhaps it was a well-aimed shot at humiliating President Moise as part of a campaign to force him from office.

One need only watch/listen to this speech by Chavez in which he describes, emotionally, the debt to Haiti, and its people. Even if you do not understand the words, the emotion is there for history to see.

At the very least, the Haitian government could have used the situation as an opportunity to describe – in statesmanlike words – our historic bond with the Venezuelan nation, and the importance of Haiti in making Simon Bolivar’s move to break  foreign control, of this area.

Unfortunately, we have no statesmen, and Haiti simply, like an assassin in a dark alley, stabbed Venezuela in the back.

WE SHOULD HAVE STATED OUR CASE – AND ABSTAINED!!!

Once the arrow has been released, it cannot be recalled.

The damage has been done!

Hugo Chavez loved Haiti, and provided  PetroCaribe funds so that we could rebuild and restructure our country. The fact that our own people stole these funds does not decrease the gift, the motivation, the love  of Hugo Chavez, and the Venezuelan people.

We have abandoned, turned our backs on our friends.

All of this because we were threatened by that racist oaf, Donald Trump!

SAD, SAD, SAD!

  1. i totally agree with your opinion. Not being part of the Government in Haiti and knowing about Realpolitik I do not want to condemn it
for their vote. But in the 1820 after Haiti had invested their sons and their money in the war of Liberation of Latin America ,at the urging
of the USA in the first Pan American Convention they did not invite Haiti. The USA did not help them in their wars of Liberation yet when
it was time to Celebrate Victory Haiti was not at the table and the USA was able to keep us away.
This is to remind the new generation that: Nation does not have friends or enemies they have interest.
Sometimes it might be short time or longtime. It is the Duty of whoever is in Power to make the call Serge Fouche Boca Raton Fl
