Haiti - Football : Caribbean Cup of Nations, the Grenadiers start with a win (1-0)

Wednesday, as part of second qualifying round of the Caribbean Cup of Nations, the Grenadiers [Senior National Selection], in their first match, at the Grenada National Stadium (St. George), defeated the British Guiana team (1-0), hanks to a goal from defender of Don Bosco, Olrish Saurel (58′).

That same day, the team Grenada faced the team of French Guiana (1-1). Because of this equality, Haiti occupies temporarily for the first day, the head of the ranking : Haiti – British Guiana (1-0) ; Grenada – French Guiana (1-1).

It is the fifth victory of the National Selection under the direction of Cuban, Israel Blake Cantero. Recall that the Selection had defeated in friendly matches: Saint-Martin (7-0), Bermuda (3-1), Puerto Rico (2-1) and French Guiana (2-1).

Friday, November 16, at the Grenada National Stadium at 5:00 pm, the Grenadiers will, for their second match, face French Guiana. A victory of Grenadiers would confirm their qualification for the finals of the Digicel Cup, scheduled from 3 to 15 December 2012 in Antigua & Barbuda. The Haitian National Selection will face in its last match, Grenada (host country).

Note that the teams finishing in first and second positions, will join the Antigua & Barbuda, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Martinique and the two group winners of Group 8 to play the final of the Digicel Cup. Note that the top four ranked teams in the final will qualify for the 12th edition of the Gold Cup, scheduled in the United States from July 7 to 28, 2013.
