BOBY DUVAL, ORIGINALLY JAILED FOR BOMB PLOT AGAINST DUVALIER NOW COMPLAINS ABOUT 17 MONTHS HE SPENT IN JAIL-Added COMMENTARY By Haitian-Truth

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti – Two former inmates testified on March 7 they where illegally imprisoned in deplorable conditions by former Dictator Jean-Claude Duvalier.

Alix Fils-Aimé, who was incarcerated for months at the Fort Dimanche prison in the 1970s without being charged, said most of the inmates were tortured and killed.

“I was able to hear people being beaten, dragged in the hallway, and I could hear women screaming…,” he told a panel of three judges.

Meantime, Robert Duval said he was lucky if he got a bowl of grits a day and as many as 40 inmates shared a cell that had just one toilet.

Duvalier, known as “Baby Doc,” didn’t show up for court on March 7 because he was hospitalized with an unknown illness, his lawyer said.

Duvalier, 61, was charged with human rights violations and embezzlement after he returned to Haiti in 2011, ending 25 years in exile.

The appeals court is scheduled to hear more testimony on March 14.

It is bizarre that human rights groups pay any attention to people like Boby Duval or Alex Fils Aime, both of them guilty of real and potential human rights crimes, or worse.

During the seventies Boby Duval was involved with a bomb plot to kill Jean Claude Duvalier. Had he not been blocked, many would have died. He was locked up for 17 months. When someone tried to kill Ronald Reagan in 1981, that person was jailed and remains behind bars.

What about the real murders carried out on the orders of Aristide and Preval??

  1. And, as he was arrested and tossed in jail, Fils-Aime was caught with a large supply of marijuana in bulk and plant form, when the only drugs in Haiti were smuggled in the American embassy diplomatic pouches.

In other words, he was one of the cornerstones upon which today’s Haitian drug disaster was built.
