Tuesday, the National Coordination of Members Victims of Cooperatives (CONASOVIC), filed a complaint to the Prosecutor of Port-au-Prince, for fraud, breach of trust, theft and conspiracy against former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide. Rosemond Jean coordonnateur of the CONASOVIC clarified, that in addition of Mr. Aristide, Henriot Pétiote, former President of the National Council of Cooperatives (CNC), David Chery, Head of United Hearts and Pierre W.Boucard, former leader of the Cooperative of Insurance Savings and Credit (CADEC) were also pursued in this complaint.

Remember that thousands of members of these financial cooperatives, attracted by the monthly interest rate of 10%, had lost all their assets during bankruptcy series [2002-2003] of these cooperatives and escape abroad of the majority of responsible.

The members ruined, claiming to those responsible of this vast swindle more than 5 billion gourdes.

So far we have seen complaints from Aristide associates who are really co-conspirators in his massive criminal activity. These people really deserve little sympathy and we must question their motives.

On the other hand, we question the lack of responsibility by those many families who lost a loved one to Aristide’s murder squads, Preval’s killers, during their terms as president.

Bertin, Florvile, Mayard…Ti Jean, Father Jean-Marie Vinvent, Ismery, Lafonant, Sylvio Claude, Guy Malary… the list is endless… Yet we haven’t heard on small squeak.

Instead, those with no basis in fact, assault Duvalier for things he never did.

Time to wake up and smell the roses. Criminal complaints must be filed. Otherwise Aristide/Lavalas will take the power back – in March 2013 – as they now plan.
