The Martelly – Lamothe Haitian government may be involved in a shady arms deal after recently placing an order for 15,000 SIG SAUER P250 Automatic hand guns for the new police force. The allegations include blackmail, kickbacks and corruption.

The deal was apparently brokered through no other then Gesner Champagne alias “Ti-Geste”, the brother in law of President Martelly well know for his past involvement in drug trafficking and illegal arms deals.
There are unconfirmed reports that Ti-Geste as been arrested and convicted in the US for arms trafficking, yet he remains a close adviser to the Haitian President Martelly.
The deal struck at the record price of approximately US$12,000,000 was
awarded without any bids to SIG SAUER.
While the Haitian police force is clearly ill-equipped to manage the overwhelming tension in the country and the Minustha (International peace keeping force) is schedule to leave the country by 2014.
A reliable source has confirmed that “Ti-Geste” received a kickback of more than US$4,000,000 from this deal alone. Sophie took the rest.
Corruption seems to go rampant and unpunished in this impoverished Caribbean Nation. President Martelly himself was involved recently in a scandal after renowned reporter Nuria Pereira investigated a case where Martelly had received several m illions of dollars in a bribe to award construction contracts to Dominican companies owned by an influential senator.

The search for weapons started about 9 months ago and saw Brazil getting the preference for 15,000 pistols. The Taurus is a dependable weapon.

The PNH is being provided with sub-standard weapons and lives will be lost, because of this.

The $12,000,000 contract for 15,000 weapons is a fact. That the weapons can be purchased for $299.00 is a fact. That dividing 15,000 into $12,000,000 gives you $800.00 per weapon is a simple mathematical fact.
Another fact can be found that someone is about to demand an inquiry into this particular contract, a contract that was given without competitive bidding, is a fact.
Perhaps, I am wrong about the virgins, and that is a fact.
