Ambassador White made a far-ranging statement, last Thursday, at her July 4th reception. We have not seen this reproduced. It does not appear of the embassy web site.

Those present report Ambassador White effectively said   Haiti has no  government now. Martelly has fallen Tete Kale has failed. The Nation’s political parties must revise their orientation.

Those are strong words – if true – from someone who is a personal friend of Sophia Martelly and has become “knee-walking drunk,” with the President, Michel Martelly, on  more than one occasion.

With this viewpoint, the American Government cannot sanction any sort of electoral process in which Martelly has any control – and, Martelly is dictating the course of the planned ballot in August. Trying to control every aspect – including who will replace him.

White’s tour ends in the first week of August. Ambassador Paul F. Mulrean is scheduled to replace her.

We hope the new ambassador brings a better balanced approach to the position, which has seen Pamela White’s bias, towards Sophia and Michel, responsible for many of the problems now faced by Haiti.

A responsible approach would have reined in Martelly’s excesses. Might have controlled Sophia’s greed.

Martelly has been out of control.

Haiti loses again as the Americans treat our Nation like a high school lab experiment, starting all over, each time the team in the American embassy changes.
