Rony Martinez and Marvin Chavez scored to lift Honduras to a 2-0 win over Haiti in the teams’ opening games of the Gold Cup on Monday night.
Martinez took a through pass from Mario Martinez and beat Haitian goalkeeper Frandy Montrevil to open the scoring in the 4th minute. Chavez made it 2-0 in the 78th.
In the other Group B match on Monday, Trinidad and Tobago drew 2-2 with El Salvador.
Rodolfo Zelaya scored twice for El Salvador, connecting in the 21st minute on a free kick and again with a header in the 68th.
Kenwyne Jones scored in the 72nd minute to salvage the draw for Trinidad and Tobago.
