WE AGREE – SHORTEN PRESIDENTIAL MANDATE – PERHAPS DO AWAY WITH IT – LET US HAVE A KING FOR A DAY!!

June 6, 2019

We could have a special number each week, on the Borlette, allowing the winner to have 24 hours as King of Haiti!

Midnight to Midnight with no coups allowed!!

Of course, this concept would lead to a complete and total breakdown of whatever organization, or infrastructure exists.  Perhaps this is what people like Vorbe, and others like him, actually want.

But who would there be to pay for the electricity?

IT IS TIME TO FACE THE DEMOCRATIC FACTS:  A MANDATE WILL BE COMPLETED – THIS IS NOT LIKE CHANGING YOUR SOCKS EVERY DAY!! YOU ELECT SOMEONE THEN WORK TO MAKE THE MANDATE AS GOOD AS POSSIBLE. SOME WILL BE BETTER THAN OTHERS.

THAT IS DEMOCRACY!

Haitians have not been exposed to Democracy long enough to really understand the strengths, and weaknesses of this philosophy. I can remember the week after Duvalier departed for France. People were on the streets chanting:

“We  have had Democracy for a week!

Where is the food?

Where are the jobs?”

Needless to say, the people were disappointed, and continue to be disappointed if they believe that there is any instantly guaranteed perfection in Democracy!

What did the previous Presidencies do for the Nation?

Aristide introduced The Necklace into Haitian society, reducing the number of old tires scattered around.

And, for example, what did Rene Preval leave us with, if we ignore the criminal power contracts with SOGENOR, E-POWER and HAYTRAK?  His wife continues to make a fortune from these sweetheart contracts.

Martelly and Lamothe initiated dozens, upon dozens of socially focused projects, utilizing PETROCARIBE funding.

Privert left the treasury empty and echoes of La Scerie.

After winning the ballot – TWICE – Jovenel Moise set out to change things, with limited funding available. He has moved forward with positive projects that will have long-term results for the Nation.

What he hasn’t done, is focused some energy on immediate, pressing dynamic of the people. They need help NOW not in ten years. There must be a balance and the remainder of Jovenel Moise’s mandate can cure these shortcomings.

This lady, and her child, need our help now.

The major efforts will help this mother and child, as the years pass, but she must survive until then.

The Baraj Maryon is one of the several such projects that will change her future.

And the Jovenel Moise Presidency, when viewed from a future viewpoint, will be seen as a period in which several key baraj/dams were constructed, increasing the arable acreage, power production and fish resources.  The Baraj Maryon is a perfect example.

His moves into solar power will reduce our dependence upon SOGENOR – HAYTRAK and E-POWER.

His road construction has generated miles of higher quality highways,  at a fraction of the previous Vorbe routes.

Seeds and agriculture production has changed this sector.

But today’s efforts, by a few, to disrupt our society in an effort to force Jovenel Moise from office is an alarming tendency to the international community who look for stability, law-and-order as necessary factors under which to invest.

The efforts to destabilize Haiti may, as some suggest, open a Pandora’s Box. However, the Pandora’s Box that will be opened may come as a surprise to some. The American authority has overlooked a lot of drug dealers, in the past. This does not mean the Americans are unaware of who is involved. Their reaction has often been selective.

The Trump administration is viewing the Haitian chaos with a certain alarm and Trump is noted for instantaneous “knee jerk” reactions.

The recent arrest of an Joris Mergelusex-PNH BLTS commander, shortly after the DEA’s removal of Gregory George should send a message. The DEA believes removal of a number of drug-dealers might reduce the Trump government problems in Haiti.

It is time for everyone to make the remaining months of President Moise’s mandate the success Haiti deserves.

It is time for President Moise to give serious consideration to the new cabinet he will install. The retention of 9 members of Ceant’s failed government does not send a good message to anyone. Haiti has a vast pool of talented, patriotic people from which to select the best possible cabinet to bridge the period from her to the next Presidency.

Forget the concept off a shortened Mandate.

It won’t fly in Washington, especially if forced by those involved with this concept now.  The President Moise government’s future, our future, our children’s children’s future starts tomorrow.

FORGET ABOUT THE JUNE 9 DEMONSTRATIONS. THERE ARE PLANS TO MAR THESE WITH GRENADE ATTACKS WITH A PLAN TO BLAME PRESIDENT MOISE FOR THESE.

THE AMERICAN TEAM ALREADY KNOWS ABOUT THIS.

STAY AT HOME SUNDAY, JUNE 9, 2019.
