Please get the facts straight and ask Melton yourself. A friend of mine did and it seems that things are not as you make them out to be. Maybe my friend is right, maybe wrong. I have been told that Mr. Melton has been in Haiti for decades and worked hard to help the local people after the earthquake by providing them with food and water so he can’t be all bad. Good journalism means getting the facts, all the facts, and then reporting on them.
Some questions:
1. Pimping means that you get a percentage of a hooker’s earnings? Does Melton deal with hookers? Does he get a percentage of their earnings? If not, it is not pimping.
2. Is he running a charity as implied ? (cf Is this one of those 501(3) ploys where someone in Haiti appeals to American charity and then uses the money to build that beach house you mention on the sex site?)
3. Are immediate threats against him tolerated on this site? (cf. Elizar D and Gregoire Batise’s posts) Mob lynching is not preferable to an honest inquiry into the fact.

Immediately after the earthquake, Melton was on his sex forum, using his personal email address and full name to generate donation money. That is clearly in his writings. He clearly states his full name and e-mail address for sending paypal payments to.

Immediate threats are far from tolerated. I do not see any direct threats made in any comments, although one of them does pose a few interesting questions about the psychological pressures that one must feel when their private life is no longer private.
Not a single person implied any harm to him or his person at all. If anyone does make threats, they will be removed. The site administrator has made that clear in many other comments on other posts here

I still think that you should contact Mr. Melton and get his side of the story. That is only proper journalism, something which is in short supply in Haiti save for a few exceptions.
I have already looked at the site thanks to your pointing it out.I see no evidence of “pimping”, i.e. Melton getting a percentage of the hookers’ money. I understand that his hotel is for men who want to meet girls but he has nothing to do with them beyond letting them on the premises. Pimping implies that he has girls working for him and that he has a “stable” of girls on hand. I gather, from the posts on that weird site, that he is an “enabler”, i.e. he invites or gets the word out to girls there that there are “gentleman callers” (i.e. Americans looking for action) just dyin’ to meet them. The transactions are left between the girl and the American. Of course, if Mr. Melton is getting a cut from this, let him hang, but is he?
We are in a gray area here but one which is familiar throughout the Third World and, indeed, throughout history: poor girls and rich men. Pattaya, Thailand and Sosua, Dominican Republic come to mind as examples (that site you refer to seems to have a lot of information about those places). Is Haiti any different? The solution, of course, is to improve the appalling living conditions in Haiti though that will be a long time, if ever, in ever happening. If living conditions in Thailand and the Dominican Republic are far better than Haiti, and yet this situation exists there (and not stamped out), what can you expect in desperate Haiti? Don’t get me wrong. I am not advocating making Haiti a giant Pattaya as a solution but am only trying to understand the phenomenon and making comparisons with other places in the Third World. In any case, the MINUSTAH forces seem to be the biggest promoters of prostitution by far anyway, not Mr. Melton’s guests.
However, the question was whether Mr. Melton is a “pimp”, i.e. someone who controls prostitutes and gets a percentage of their earnings. Nowhere on that site have I found evidence of that. Perhaps you have read through it all (too much for me) and have found such evidence though I doubt it. I challenge you to come up with a passage in which it is clear Melton gets a cut of the earnings of the girls or that he keeps a stable of girls on the premises. He is more like the owner of a hotel like they reportedly have in Brazil, Thailand, etc. which allows for johns to meet hookers on the premises but have no cut in the transactions between them. They make the money off renting the room while the hookers get their money directly from the johns. It is a symbiotic relationship however sordid it might be.
The “smoking gun” of Mr. Melton’s words seems to be enticing American men to come to Haiti to pick up some local girls (sweet chocolate as he says in a racist manner) but that does not imply he is taking a cut from their earnings. In view of this fact, he should not be called a pimp. (and I saw nowhere on that site that he is actually drawing Social Security, and so that should be struck as well unless you have evidence to the contrary)

We are still picking you up at the airport for the price of $27. We had already started that with our new pricing structure before the quake. Even though it is a little farther from the airport, traffic is not a problem and most of the road to our house has been newly constructed and they are working on the remainder.

Cookies today
Today I walked up to the corner of Delmas where there is a tent city. I was passing cookies out to the children and had some left over so I passed them out to the Grannies. Then I started breaking down the packs and giving out to the others. You have to remember that at this time the distribution centers are starting to get food out to people so in my area they are not starving. But children need to experience the things like candy and cookies and I guess that is where i am filling that gap at this time. It gives you a warm feeling to see the smiles on these peoples faces. I wish all of you could be here to experience it. Yes guys, the people that come to help are obviously going to partake in sex. That same guy that has that sex drive is also the same guys that are down here treating injured people and helping me pass out the goodies. All I can say is don’t criticize them, come join them. The Creole Mansion has been declared by a civil engineer to be unsafe so we are moving to another house next week that will be a little different. I was involved with intelligence and law enforcement for more than 20 years. Much of the time we looked at piles of information and detected certain patterns. Sort of like profiling.
No one who has never been to Haiti and does not know the Melton person would sit down, read the sickening evidence against this person Melton and then spend all of the time writing a defence for the man and his actions, actions which would see him locked up in an American federal prison for years, were these crimes committed in America.

I am presently in Haiti with an international organization, helping women create businesses in the Petit Goave, Grande Goave and Leogane areas. Things are really desperate since this was the focus of the January 12 earthquake.
I can understand why young girls and even children, would sell their bodies for a few dollars.
I will bet, that if someone really bothered to investigate, the Melton lizard, and others like him, have supplied underage children for sex. I note that he continually refers to “A real 18”, or a “True 18”. That, in my experience as a social worker, is CODE for child prostitution. Those involved know that this mean there is under 18 kids available for whatever they want to do.
I will be with a group in Port-au-Prince next week, with representatives of the UN, Red Cross, OAS and CARICOM. One of their focuses is upon the ongoing abuse of women and children in the tent camps.
I will see what can be done to have Mr. Melton investigated.
As it is my understanding, the Haitian Police can be overzealous on occasion. And – JACK – that is not a threat of violence, it is simply a statement of the Haitian Reality.

I suggest you look up the definition of pimping. There is no evidence that he made a cent from the girls. Its easy to jump on the hypocritical NGO bandwagon, trying to stir up scandal in order to squeeze out some donations.
