TIME TO WAKE UP AND SMELL THE ROSES – PEOPLE ARE STARVING!!!

Speaking to a Tap Tap driver this morning. Yesterday he put 40 gourdes in gasoline (1 gallon) in his vehicle and drove all day, carrying people. At the end of his shift he went home with 38 gourdes. In other words, he has 2 gourdes less, at the end of the day and has put wear-and-tear on his vehicle and invested 10 hours of his time.

In the countryside, peasants have eaten their seed stock and have nothing to plant. There were warning signs, months ago, but nothing was done. We are too focused upon grandiose projects to see the starving people.

Seed stocks are not sitting there, ready to purchase. One must order well in advance because the suppliers “grow to order.”

Those planting sugar cane, at this time,  must watch because starving children will pull up the planted roots to eat them.

The Nation is on the verge of a major explosion and the government must pay immediate attention, otherwise we will be faced by a huge social explosion as the nation erupts with food riots, generated by activists, ready to take advantage of this type of situation.

  1. The situation is really desperate in many parts of the nation as agriculture fails to meet the demand for production.

    See a widespread fact that can no longer be hidden and ds and fertilizer are not available.

    The Martelly governement is facing an increasingly volatile situation which will – finally – have no easy solution.

    People are already starving.

    Soon this will become an impossible condition and the governement will be threatened in its effort to survive.
