A truly amazing event in Haiti’s often fragmented society. Over 1,000 people from all sectors of society – political, business, educational, religious, ONGs… and more packed Jo Jo’s last night to celebrate the second anniversary of the Dr. Laurent G. Lamothe Foundation.
Guests started arriving shortly after 7, well before the advertised 8 P.M. and were still dancing to the music well after midnight.
Without a conspicuous security barrier, President Moise circulated through the crowded interior, greeting old friends and making new ones. Less conspicuous was the presence of Senator Joseph Lambert and Deputy Gary Bodeau, heads of our Senate and Chamber of Deputies.
The focus was upon the Foundation’s work in an area above Petion-Ville in the mountains near Furci. Here The Laurent G. Lamothe Foundation works to upgrade the Panyol community. Foundation supporters, local and international, have contributed a great deal of technical and physical support for the Lamothe project. Lessons from this endeavour will be replicated elsewhere around the Nation/
