Mario Andresol’s mandate expires on August 18 and there should ne a replacement named – now – so that the new Chief can work with Andresol assuring a smooth transition between the leadership. The PNH is so important to the Nation’s survival that we cannot see a break in the administrative continuity while the system changes gears.

Our sources point to trouble during Martelly’s ill-conceived carnival, at the end of the month. Some suggest that Andresol knows of these plans and will do little to prevent whatever disaster threatens, in order to justify his own retention for another three years.

God preserve us from that alternative.

It is time for Andresol to go.

President Martelly must name his choice to replace Mario Andresol and put the new man in place with Andresol so he can have his hands on the controls, along with those of Mario Andresol, as the last month of Andresol’s mandate runs out.

This is no time for a last minute decision.
