3 Haitian Cabinet members narrowly survive no-confidence vote in Senate-Added COMMENTARY By Haitian-Truth

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti – Three high-ranking officials in Haiti have narrowly survived no-confidence votes in Parliament.

More than a dozen of the 18 voting senators backed censure for Justice Minister Jean Renel Sanon, Foreign Affairs Minister Pierre-Richard Casimir and Interior Minister David Bazile.

But a vote to remove a Cabinet minister requires 16 votes.

Opposition lawmakers blame the officials for many of the impoverished country’s problems. Some complained about last month’s detention of an opposition figure, which so angered his supporters they raided the courthouse where he was being questioned. Sanon said he had nothing to do with the detention.

The vote came close to midnight Tuesday.

These three minister should have resigned.

The vote was close enough to show that they are not wanted. The Justice Minister is not qualified while the Interior Minister used to handle a vehicle section in the army.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs also leaves something to be desired.
