Even as the final touches were being finalized on a well-planned coup, that would see Parliament stolen by a Bouclier, PHTK, Verite majority.
The Americans, and their associates, were worried about the planned outcome and applied pressure. The result is the mess we are now faced with in which nothing was decided and few won on the first round of balloting.
Opont met with a foreign team that dictated modifications that were out of step with the plan in place and this delayed publication of the results.
In other words, the plan to have a Parliament installed before the October 25 Presidential Elections was thwarted leaving no one the winner and total confusion.
The Haitian public is upset about the overall handling of the vote. There have been attacks on police stations and road blocks. Tires are burning in Cite Soleir and the Mob threatens to block school opening.
Most of Haiti’s legal community, and to which Opont admitted. political parties are fighting against the Opont criminality that mirrors that of 2006 Voting in 3 departments was impossible because of armed bandits.
The public, recognizing the real game, was not interested in participating, and something less than 2% cast ballots.
Will Opont and his fellow CEP members have to return the bribes they accepted to fix the election?
Elections should be annulled.
All elections should be held in October, with the presidential vote. Candidates illegally barred must be reintegrated to the process.
