Haiti’s champion of the free-and-fair electoral process, President Rene Garcia Preval, personally delivered $1,000,000 to Gonaives in an effort to derail Jean-Henry Ceant’s rally, planned for Saturday.
In spite of the false polls, published by Chamber of Commerce President Boulos, Preval knows what Ceant’s true popularity is, and he is frightened.
Preval’s plan sees no one win the first round, forcing a run-off. His polls endeavor to show Manigat/Baker as one and two in popularity. With this in mind, the Preval-controlled CEP – Electoral Council – will hold a run-off between Baker/Manigat…leaving Ceant in the dust with something like 5%.
The situation is explosive as Preval – like a trapped rat – looks for a way out.
The rally in Gonaives will be a pivotal point in this election.
