USA – Haiti Betting: Another easy Gold Cup win for Klinsmann’s men

Having come out on top against Honduras in their opener, Al Hain-Cole expects the Stars and Stripes to prove too strong for yet more Concacaf opposition in Massachusetts

Having got off to a winning start with a 2-1 victory over Honduras on Wednesday, USA will be looking to secure their place in the Concacaf Gold Cup quarter-finals when they take on Haiti on Friday.

The tournament favourites come into this match on the back of a five-match winning streak and are overwhelming 1/16 (1.06) favourites with William Hill to make it six in a row in Massachusetts.

Les Grenadiers pulled off a minor shock by holding Panama to a 1-1 draw in their opener, but are hefty 16/1 (17.00) outsiders to upset the odds in even more dramatic style against the hosts.

The sides shared a 2-2 draw when they met in this competition back in 2009, and you can get odds of 10/1 (11.00) on them cancelling each other out yet again.

While Marc Collat may be pointing to that performance of six years ago as proof of his side’s ability to go toe-to-toe with their far bigger opponents, it must be pointed out that the team they faced on that occasion was missing almost all of the first-teamers who had just reached the final of the Confederations Cup.

This time out they must take on a Stars and Stripes side in as strong a form as ever, having beaten Germany and Netherlands in two of their most recent friendlies.

Indeed, 14 goals in the last five fixtures suggests the holders should have little trouble in finding their way past a defence with only two clean sheets to their name in their previous 10 games, those coming against Martinique and St Kitts and Nevis.

Realistically, the gap in class should prove obvious from the very opening minutes, meaning odds of 4/5
(1.80) are not to be missed on the Americans winning both halves.

  1. This was not an easy win for the United States.

Only luck delivered a 1-0 victory for them as Haiti bounce a few close shots off the American goal posts.

Haiti made more dynamic shots, on the goalkeeper, than did their American counterparts.

    Super game!
