UN official says Haiti needs a registration system-Added COMMENTARY By Haitian-Truth

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — A senior U.N. official says Haiti needs a national registration system to better protect its citizens at home and abroad.

The U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres tells The Associated Press that a central database would improve conditions for thousands of Haitians living outside their homeland. It would help them open bank accounts, marry and secure property titles.

Guterres spoke Wednesday night after visits to Haiti and the neighboring Dominican Republic. He says he pushed for the registration system in talks with officials in both countries.

Lots of luck guys!

This foreign concept would be similar to an effort to herd a bunch of cats through a small door.

The inbred Haitian paranoia against control will see anyone attempting such a concept confined to a mental hospital after a couple of frustrating months.

  1. What Haiti needs is a land, title or deed registration system. The UN always propose worthless project to control people. first register land titles and deeds that would protect current landownres and future buyers and improve Haiti economic potential.

when these folks at the UN sit and study Haiti history, they will better understand Haitian mentality or what I call the Dessalinienne mentality, which is the desire to be free and be left the hell alone.

when it comes to their freedom,Haitians don’t trust anybody, not foreigners, not Haitians who live outside of Haiti for too long, not politicians, not anyone in authority and not even each other.

the problem with Haiti is that we haitians have a hard time giving up a certain amount of freedom for progress and security. Haitians don’t believe in following a rule for the sake of rules, we live by our own set of rules, we determine what look a rules we will follow and what rules we will ignore and break. it’s sad but we are a nation of magouilleurs, we all participate a certain level of magouille especially when it comes to getting a visa or a green card!!!

  2. Nice one Jynee!!

That is why Democracy will never work in Haiti.

In order to have Democracy Haitians would have to give up many freedoms they possess.
